He, like Edwards, was born in 1953. (Feingold in March, Edwards in June). I remember reading that Edwards just missed it because they ended the draft a matter of months before he turned 18 so maybe Feingold got the same luck. It makes sense to me since Feingold graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1975 so he would have graduated high school in '71 (and been 18).

Anyway, I was saying that Feingold was too young to serve in Vietnam in response to the previous post, not to be president in 2008. Is that why you asked about Kennedy?

In relation to that, I remember that one of Kerry's answers to a question about Edwards' youth and inexperience was that, at 51, Edwards was eight years older than Kennedy had been when he was inaugurated.

Maybe we can do that in '08. Feingold sounds like a great candidate and I'll bet he could win if he ran with a progressive from the South. Putting Durbin or Feingold on a ticket with Edwards would surely be a winner.

and in either order. I wonder what the likelyhood is of someone being chosen and being willing to run for Vice-President a second time after losing the first.

I like Durbin even better than Feingold but I'm still learning more about Feingold. I doubt Durbin has any interest in running but I wish he would. I always liked him but I found out just how much courage he has when he and Wellstone were the only Democrats running for re-election that voted against the war in Iraq.

I remember being furious at Feingold when he refused to oppose the confirmation of Ashcroft as AG. At the time, I believe he said something about 'giving the prez the cabinet he wants.'

Which is crap.

Ashcroft (and other RW appointees) should have been opposed (on account of idealogy) by ALL Dem senators, including Russ. They knew what Ashcroft would be like; I sure as hell did. Yes, the Patriot Act should have been universally opposed, too, and so should the Iraq 'war' resolution, and the tax rip-off, etc.

IMHO, any Democrat who did not fervently oppose ALL of those is not worth supporting as a national leader.

We don't need Democratic leaders who sometimes make it easier for the Rethugs to screw the rest of us.

We need champions, not chumps.
