Just kidding.
But how long do you think it will take?

1. It would be the end of my movie watching if it ever happened. |
|
Not that the commercial messages before the shows haven't almost pushed me away to begin with.

They used to do this and there was some confusion about standing and all that. It was a film and not live after all.
Did anyone ever stand at attention and put their hand over their heart when the National Anthem was played when the local TV station signed off?
If I wanted to do that, I'd start going to baseball games.

5. I think it used to be. |
|
I maybe wrong but I do re-call that they sold war bonds at the movies, and at school. Course I was born in the 30's.I would have grown up with the world at war. Used to see it in the news at the movies. It was just part of our lives and I think long before we got into the war. We used to go to Can. a few times a year and they would have been with England.

7. Back when we were asked to sacrifice for the sake of Democracy. |
|
I remember hearing about stuff like that from my parents. The sacrifices their parents made and how proud they were to do such things.
What an incredibly effed up nation we live in now.
Imagine a justifiable war where we were asked to sacrifice to help our sons and daughters in uniform.
Yeah, I tried, and I can't either.

6. ...with a big-ass picture of George with the flag waving behind? |
|
The shot of W would evoke great cheers and applause in many Red states, I'd imagine...

9. In 1977 the audience had to recite the Pledge of Allegiance |
|
before a piano recital at my college. The pianist was from Liberty Baptist College, now known as Liberty University, and he was one of Jerry F's minions before Jerry made a name for himself nationally. I'm surprised that a prayer wasn't added before the music began.

10. Funny - I fully expected some theater chain to have announced doing this |
|
I doubt it will be too long. The right is morphing loyalty to bush=loyalty to America.

and I'll be damned if I let those fuckers steal MY Nation's symbols from me. I always salute the flag, and sing loudly and proudly (if not always on key) when the SSB is performed
