Liberal talk show host in Akron (Joe Finan) replaced by a Conservative |
|
Joe Finan retired last week. He was the ONLY liberal talk show host on the station and in this area. Instead of replacing him with another liberal for his time slot, WNIR hired a repub/Bush supporter. He just started today and I don't like him already. The other time slots are filled by conservatives. Many well-qualified liberals auditioned for the job.
We have been totally overtaken by right-wing radio now.
Finan devoted callers so far today (his first day) have and will give this repub a hard time but I'm sure he will stay. The station and Akron has lost it's only liberal voice.
A sad day for me and others in Northeastern Ohio...

9. WNIR is independently owned - not Clear Channel |
|
Was "fair and balanced" before, if you want to call it that, with just one liberal talk host. Now none.
Bob Golic was a great football player in his time and from Cleveland. He should stick with sports talk radio (already talking more sports than politics but he voted for Bush.) We need a liberal voice!

NOT - but regarding Clear Channel - they own the two progressive talk show stations in the Boston area - tho I hate to admit it
the almighty dollar speaks loudly!

8. they recently refused to run some progressive ads |

despite the offer of full payment. Green usually is the most significant factor in corporate matter, but some--like Sinclair and perhaps Clear Channel--seem to have objectives other than profit.

3. Petitioning the station is worth a try |
|
From the feedback so far (he's only been officially on now for 1 1/2 hours) he's not gaining any fans by the mostly liberal listening audience.
I'm sure the right-wingers are loving him, but I'm feeling even more abandoned than ever. We don't need more conservative voices!
