The Bush Sr/Clinton combination.

What did people think of that? I thought it was a great idea. When I first heard Clinton come out and talk about the tsunami, the first thing I thought was that I really wished he was the president right now because he would have a better clue about how to help. Clinton has never been my favorite politician, but I could never deny that he's smart on stuff like this most of the time.

Of course, charities need help in their organization. I feel a lot better knowing that Clinton is going to help out on it. Some probably feel better knowing that Bush Sr. is helping out, but I doubt those people are in abundance on here. This is DU. I don't see him doing any harm though. Watching Bush Sr. and Clinton work together should be interesting. Is it my imagination, or did Bush Sr. appear resentful on the news lately?

Anyway, what's everybody's opinion of that? I apologize if somebody has already posted about this.

I've already given to a charity though, so I probably won't be giving to any of the charities that they're helping out unless I get more money. My last question is what type of charities do you all think are best to work with?

I mean, when a disaster of this magnatude happens, where do they turn? To the arguable champeen of the world, respected, loved in some places and always listened to by leaders. The Alpha Politician.

They know that they just did not have what it takes.

As well as a lot better image in terms of contact with nations that Dub has, er, "ignored" at best for the past four years. Meanwhile, Poppy will do his best to patch over all the insults Dub has hurled at "Old Europe" non-stop for just as long.

6. When I first heard news this a.m. I thought it was disgusting that

Clinton would join Poppy and Chimp.

The more I thought about it I decided that the "Shadow Government" (Poppy/Baker/Scowcroft) have stepped and told the Chimp this: "The Disaster and devastation is Huge and if you are serious in following the PNAC you better realize this was a disaster in a Muslim part of the world and you aren't going to spread Democracy and Christianity and keep Israel safe unless you show TRUE COMPASSION with bags of $$$$$$$$$$$'s to these people who are suffering and those in all the countries around the world including the US who have lost family and friends there."

I think Poppy et al...slammed the Chimp against the wall and said: "Send Clinton in...he's respected and you aren't. Give the big dollars and swallow your stupid pride." It fit Clinton's needs to rehabilitate himself at home and give him a foot back to respectability and it fit the Bushies needs to rehabilitate themselves after failing so badly in foreign policy.

I think we should look on this as very bad for the Chimp that Once Again his Daddy has to save his butt.

It's sad that it's come to this for we average Americans out here, though. :-(

9. I, too, see the irony in this...

The Bush administration has used every possible opportunity to lambast Clinton at every turn. They have blamed him for every single one of their own mistakes and crimes.

Bush stayed at the ranch, "biking and walking and thinking about his plans for his new term" during the first three days of the tsunami disaster and said not one word about the great pain that millions are experiencing in its wake. Yet, when Clinton made a public comment of sympathy and a suggestion that "someone needed to take charge", Bush's aides came out and blasted him for showboating and "rushing to the cameras" saying "I feel your pain." Evidently, they are too stupid to see that he was talking about THEM.

Now that someone has made the Bush WhiteHouse see just how stupid they appear to the world, who do they run to? Why...Bill Clinton, of course. Now they need his popularity and expertise to prop up a failed presidency and a moron of a White House Resident.

Bush NEEDS Bill Clinton to burnish his exceedingly tarnished image.
