We know they would be attacked my the right wingers, but would their voting constituency desert them? What about main stream media? Or would they be praised for being brave?

safe, it shouldn't be a problem.

How in the world can someone attack someone for making sure everyone's vote is counted?

On second thought, I'm sure Rove and co. will find a way.

-- are Lautenberg and Jeffords.

Jeffords long ago abandoned the Republicans and would be supported by his constituents whether or not he ran for re-election, and Lautenberg is a this-time-only occupant, sitting in for the party, and has no other electoral ambitions.

If it turns out to be Boxer, that's great.
