Things are so bad that Democrats are willing to cheer over a few scraps.

This is beyond belief. A majority of Democratic "leaders" want the public to know that Bush won fair and square, just like he did in 2000. They aren`t contesting the outcome, just mentioning a few irregularities with a few machines. What a game plan! Throw a little bone to each side so the troublemaker label doesn`t stick. In other words, what`s a little fraud among friends?

When are we going to wake up? When are we going to finally refuse to send them contributions? Volunteer in their campaigns? Guarantee our votes? As long as we`re willing to accept the pitiful scraps they throw, there will be no meaningful reform in our party.

How many of our "leaders" supported the Patriot Act? The war in Iraq? Can you say majority? Why then do we expect them to show any backbone when the issue of voting fraud comes up? Today a majority of our "leaders" did what they do best....have it both ways, stay in the safe zone, don`t make waves.

Now member Democrats, have taken to grasping at any sign of a change, any glimmer of hope. We sit back and wait for the next directive from the leadership....hoping, praying that something will go our way. It`s time to stop all that and take control of our party, right here and now. We`ve been led around long enough. It`s not a Left vs. Center thing, it`s simply about being willing to demand that our leaders return to basic Democratic principles we used to stand for....or else.

This whole exercise was a calculated maneuver to the more left-wing base so that in '06 & '08 they can claim that they spoke up. They know they can do this and secure these votes regardless of what they do from now on. And they're right, they have secured those votes, despite those who will say otherwise.

e-mails, and faxes . . . after the thousands of hours of work by hundreds of people documenting uncountable instances of voter fraud and disenfranchisement . . . after all that, all we get is a pro forma objection, a few speeches, and just two senators voting not to accept the Ohio electors . . . and plenty of rhetoric to assure us that our Democratic senators do, indeed, believe that Bush won the election . . .

and people are getting all excited for this? . . . what we needed was for every Democratic senator, and a few Republicans, to stand up and contest not only Ohio, but Florida, New Mexico, and a few other states as well . . . and then refuse to accept the election results as reported by Republican corporations . . . no one even mentioned, to my recollection, that this is how the votes are tallied, and that there might just be a little something wrong with that . . .

both parties in Washington are sucking on the same corporate teats, and until that ends, we will never see any meaningful reform . . . you think this Congress is going to mandate auditable paper trails for the touchscreen machines that every state will be using next election? . . . no chance in hell . . . you think the Democrats will make an issue of this? . . . no chance in hell . . . you think a Democrat has any chance of winning the presidency in 2008? . . . no chance in hell . . .

the status quo sucks, but that's what we're stuck with . . . next stop is seeing how many Democrats will cave on Social Security and on tort reform . . . my guess would be enough to pass both, and quite comfortably . . .

If the Dems were going to be truly Dem, they'd
all have voted No.

So, it's back to bidness as usual, sucking up
and ripping off, insider trading tip payoffs,

They have the good life set up - wonderful
pensions and health coverage for life,

6. Heck, standing for ANY principles would be welcome, and that's why

it isn't left, right or center.

While I don't bash the leadership, so much of it seems to be going along in the hopes that Bush or the republicans won't call them traitors and trash them. It won't work. The republicans couldn't hate the democrats any more. The republicans have no sense of restraint. Holding your voice down doesn't get you anywhere. Find a place to stand and stand up.

7. It's a ridiculously ineffective strategy

They're being oh so careful not to contest the outcome, so the Repubs are just taking that and throwing it back in their faces. "You admit that * won, so why don't you all get over it and move on". Lather, rinse, repeat.

Needless to say, I agree: we the people are going to have to start being the leaders. Then the "leaders" will either have to follow or get out of the way.
