Who else cried today

When the Ohio electors were contested. I was right in the middle of a phone call to my bank when I heard them say "Ohio" and stopped what I was doing. I watched as that woman who was not well-miked stood up, and then as Cheney asked if it were signed by a Senator, and it was, I inexplicably burst into tears. I had to leave shortly after Congress was splitting up to go and debate, so I don't know what was said.

I didn't expect to cry. Did anyone else?

Actually you sound more like his "get over 2000 already" comments, the ones some here take offense at.

I'm not rending my clothes over 2000. I wasn't aware enough at that point. I'm not mourning 2004 anymore either. But neither will you see me with a knife and a fork and a bib with a picture of a Dem on it.

"Sensitive war" crack is that the far left has turned the democratic party into a bunch of "girlie men". JFK was the last democratic president with a pair of balls. A man's man, you know? His assasination didn't make who he is, as some people like to say. His style and policies made him. Sure he had a weakness or two (women), but JFK was tough. If the democratic had a guy like him, there wouldn't be any whining.

The New Democrats are a step back toward John F. Kennedy. Fiscally responsible, more defense-minded, and yet still socially liberal. And John F. Kerry was about as tough a son of a bitchin' Democrat as they were likely to find this year aside from Clark. The Far Left hasn't turned the Democratic Party into anything. The Far Left isn't numerous enough nor in power to turn the Democratic Party into anything. In fact, it is the far left that decries just the sort of move you are advocating. They already see the party moving in that direction. Some see Kerry as a move toward that center. He is NOT far left.

21. I'm not crying, whining or feeling sorry for myself

I'm being myself. And I don't whine, cry or feel sorry for myself. I feel sorrow for what this idiot has done and will do. I do it for the rest of the world. I get choked up and once in a while I cry when I think of 2000 for many reasons.

1. It reminds of how the MSM bowed to GOP talking points by focusing stories on the phrase "the ballots have been counted and recounted" instead of the word "disenfranchisement" which was the real crime. Where were the stories on felon scrubbing and voter intimidation?

2. I think of the tens of thousands of innocents who have died and the many more who have been scarred (mentally and physically) because Bush was selected instead of having the people's real choice installed into office. I include in this number all of those who died on September 11th to the war in Iraq and the all but aborted war on terrorism.

3. Sometimes I get so frustrated at the MSM and the American people's gullability. What do we have to do to get the rest of America to wake up? Put it up in neon signs? Get MoveOn.org to sponsor cars at NASCAR? In saner times I thank the manufacturers of pretzels of everywhere. Remember,it was that moron choking on a pretzel that opened him up to comedic riducle and then finally some semblence of the MSM beginning to ask questions (albeit way too late) about the war in Iraq and other Bush shenanigans.

4. It pisses me off that the selected moron is in office.

There are a lot more reasons but I'm tired and I hope you get where I'm coming from. BTW, I've been in the Democratic party since I was a child and my parents were precinct committee people. I've never sat back and let things just happen. I've always gotten out there and done the leg work.

...when they broke into their regular programming with the news. With the palm of my non-driving hand, I pounded repeatedly on the truck's ceiling and let out a triumphant whoop!

Yes, I was very very sad today. I guess I was hoping against all hope that we might not have to have the Idiot Son of an Asshole for another four years.

I just don't know how our country is going to get through this. The Gonzales hearings made me sick. Our country is going down a path that I don't know if it will ever recover from.

I hate Bush and all, and I'm sure some nasty stuff was pulled in some states.

However, let's get real. Fraud could not have been responsible for that many votes. If you want to blame somebody for Bush winning, then perhaps the blame should be placed where it belongs. Place it on 58 billion Americans.

I'm not too worried. I know that most Americans are against what Bush wants on many issues including more war, a draft, abortion rights, and other issues. Bush might not be up for re-election, but all those Republicans in Congress are. They better damn well stop Bush from having his childish way with things if they want to be re-elected again in two years. Look, they already voted down the gay marriage amendment. Hah! I could be wrong, but I think the worst is over.
