in place more effectively and use these assest to monitor/target real/potential terrorists rather than using an inordinate amount of these assets to stiffle patriotic dissent/political opposition. Sufficient assets were seemingly in place to thwart/mostly thwart 9-11, but it seems they were not utilized very effectively.

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Edmund Burke - "The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion."
William Pitt - "Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."
