Would it be too far-fetched to compare the denial of voting rights by the Repukes in the past 4 years to what was done to these 3 men? They were murdered for trying to get black people to register to vote in Mississippi. While people may not have been murdered in Ohio, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, etc...they were denied the opportunity to register and to vote. The means may have been different, but the result was the same.
I think that the comparison is very valid, and should be made...loud and clear.

1. I still remembered when this happened
and the horror I felt. What with the fraud, etc, it would seem that they died in vain--only we must continue fighting to make sure that everyone knows that they did not.

stood up for in Congress on Thursday!!! And that is why I, for one, was heartbroken, that they did not stand up to make that statment. Not to say that Kerry should be president..but to say they stood with Boxer and the CBC to protest for all those who stood in line until 4AM and still did not get their votes counted!!!!! It was a disgrace!!! It was about voting rights..not about saying that Kerry won or not!!
Truth be told..if all the votes were not counted..or not allowed to be cast, how do we know who really won!!???

2. I was alive, but much too young to remember when...
these murders took place.
I learned most of what I know about it from the movie "Mississippi Burning" which paints a chilling picture of the early civil rights struggle in this country.
Despite the horror portrayed in that era, there was the ray of hope that honest, decent people could and would make a difference by standing up to injustice.
Perhaps, that's still a useful lesson.

4. Keep-up the pressure...
It took decades to get the thugs in blue to take action in this case, but it eventually worked. The FBI didn't want to act, but they eventually bowed to public pressure. This is why we need to keep--up the pressure when it comes to the repuke's large-scale election fraud. It might take years, but eventually we might be able to get those thugs to take some action.
