I wouldn't make Newt a favorite - but he'll have plenty of $$$ and lots of the GOP "intelligentsia" behind him. His oratorical skills are frightening (he makes the insane crap that he spews sound very reasonable and logical)and he would be a formidable challenger. The GOP has a habit of nominating folks who have not been in office during the process (Ike, Nixon, Reagan) and Newt has the advantage of being able to travel the country right now campaiging (book tour) without being tied to or tied down by Washington, DC.

Don't be surprised if he's the next president. The divorce crap only matters if you're a Democrat.

Jeb- I think even the GOP don't want another Bush in the White House. For some reason I still think that secretly most of the GOP doesn't like Bush but for the sake of the party they put up with his crap.

Newt-I am a little worried about this one. He is like Bush but the difference between the two is that Newt doesn't need a Karl Rove to think for him and scheme...He is one.

Rudy- The only reason why I would think Rudy would have a chance is due to his post 9/11 actions image. I mean, his affair story was totally eclipsed by his "courageous leadership" after the attack.

What I'm eagerly waiting is who would Hilary pick as her running mate.

I saw the governor of Colorado (R) on TV the other day-- don't know anything about him, but I thought that'd be the sort of person I hope they don't nominate -- the normal-seeming ones.

24. To be honest, I don't know how old the guy is...

But he's Vietnam era and so are shrub and so was Kerry. Reagan was at least 400 years old when he ran. I haven't seen much to show me that McCain is sickly or frail or anything (aside from the obvious dementia exhibited in the ghastly hug of shrub episode).

Aside from that, he's well liked by a broad spectrum of people in the country and he's also SMART (this may be a reason the thugs would NOT select him...).
