Poll question: Anti-DLCers, are you really against the DLC as an organization
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 10:39 PM by ZombieNixon
or do you just hate Al From?

I know I titled this thread with "Anti-DLCers" as if you were a group foreign to me, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a fan of the DLC. For me, its more about the leadership of the organization than the organization itself. The DLC were pretty effective in organization when Clinton got elected, but issue wise, I can't say I'm crazy about them,

What's it for you? Do you believe the DLC will never change their positions on issues and you wish they drop off the face of the earth, or would you prefer to use their organization strategies, only for a different cause?

2. I would add
that I could live with the DLC if they actually represented centrist values instead of corporate values. They label themselves centrist, but their policies on most issues are anything but a balanced, middle of the road approach.

I used to buy all the PR on the DLC & NDN until I started reading a lot of the position papers and really paying attention to the actual votes in Congress. Then I realized they were all about big business, not middle of the road policies that appeal to moderates, purple states, and independents.

No question though, Al From is taking the DLC more and more to the right.

3. Tacitically (i.e. From) they're idiots. Ideologically, they're ok at best
They should remember that they are now a policy think tank/advocacy group first. When they stick to policy ideas, they are an acceptable wing of the party.

In terms of their political analysis and tactics, which come primarily from From, they are complete idiots.

4. the DLC exists
to fight progressive initiatives in the party. From is an easy target, sure, but I'm opposed to the organization itself.

6. Gotta go with virus on the hard drive.
If the DLC is such hot shit, how come the party is in worse shape now than when the DLC took over? Two possibilities:

1. DLC is utterly incompetent.
2. DLC is a Pug stealth operation.

Either way, they need to be fired before they kill us all!

:freak:

7. What, no "All of the Above"?
Seriously, I chose "could live with them if they stopped their evil ways".
Seriously.

8. I mainly object to...
them trying to yank the party to the right (though they refer to it as centrism) and telling us we need to dropkick important issues like gay rights....I think rights for anyone are nothing to discard.
also, they have attacked Michael Moore and others for essentially doing what the Dem party should have been doing all along: holding republican's feet to the fire for their dangerous idiocy.

So, I have trouble understanding their motives completely, since they seem to be telling us the same talking points as Rove and Bushco...which makes me automatically suspicious.
