Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 06:24 PM by madfloridian
I think Dean and Rosenberg are friends, and I hope there is no ugliness. I was surprised at his approval of the war, even now. I posted about it. I do NOT like that Rosenberg approves of the war.

However, I understand also that Simon Rosenberg might be a good person for the party chair because of his many skills.

I am undecided, as my feelings are mixed about the DFA and DNC and the future.

1. Yeah
Thanks for posting here, Mr. Heinz, if you read this. It's an honor.
I like what I see in Simon Rosenberg. He has a lot of what Dean has, without some of the "crazy" baggage.

That is sad.

13. Put on your thinking cap.
Reread your words. You did not offend me, you just changed the tone of my message. It did not need to be done.

I don't get offended anymore.

27. OK
Sorry. I can be a tad blunt.
I love Howard Dean. He and Kucinich (and Kerry, after the nomination was secured) were the ones I campaigned for.
For the record, I was not intending to change your message. I was tossing in my own thoughts.
I stand by my point. My first choice is Dean, for his positions and his profile. Unfortunately, he has a bit of an unfair reputation. That's all I meant.

31. "crazy" baggage?
God, some people will not let go of the infamous "scream" which has been discredited time and again. As far as being crazy was Dean crazy to oppose the war? was he crazy when he said that the US is not any safer with Saddam in custody? was he crazy when he attacked Bush when many democrats were playing it safe?

I don't agree with the characterization. Read a later post. I dig Dean, and I don't think he's crazy. It's just his reputation.

14. good for you.
I don't feel as gracious. I started a thread positing that the Heinz post was a shot across the bow of Dean's candidacy for chair, coming as it did the same day Dean announced. It seems to me that Mr. Heinz is, if not speaking for, representative of the powers that be within the beltway. I have nothing against Mr. Rosenberg, but I don't think he brings to the table even half of the assets that Dean brings. We're about to see a concentrated effort to tombstone Dean's bid for the chair, and I for one, heartily resent it.

17. My feeling is that if anyone besides Dean gets chair, even Rosenberg
Dean will lose a lot of influence over party reform. He can continue to run DFA in tandem with being the chair. If he isn't chair, he can decide to run again (which would be GREAT) but unless the DNC chair is someone favorably disposed to Dean, I fear that there would once again be a "stop Dean" movement in a bid for the presidential nomination.

19. I really do not know much about Simon Rosenberg, but my
daughter, known here as Ramsey, who is and has been a big Dean supporter, told me months ago that Rosenberg would also be excellent. I have not spoken to her lately on the subject, but I am assuming she still feels the same. So based on her recommendation it is Dean first and Rosenberg second for me. What can we do to help?

24. Regardless of his skills...
the fact that he supports the war is enough for me.

Rosenberg was a part of the DLC, and supposedly had a disagreement with From and then pulled out and formed his own version of the DLC. there is little difference between the two organizations. If you want Rosenberg for DNC Chair, then it doesn't matter if McAuliffe stays or any other DLCer.

I, for one, want total and complete change at the top.

My first choice was Dean. My second choice would be Donnie Fowler.

I am just hoping that one of these newly formed groups will give the DLC a good run for their money and become truly challenging to the rigid status quo at the top of the Party.

26. I have always been against Dean at the DNC
And I am as committed a Dean supporter as anyone. I see it as a trap for him, a way to neuter him if he won it. But I must go with his decision to run for it and hope that when/if he gets in there he goes in BREAKING FURNITURE. We cannot continue with this lily-livered excuse for leadership that we are saddled with and we do not deserve it. Not as Democrats and not as Americans. They have not led. It is time for them all to go.

28. I'm supporting it only because he's the best choice
but I don't like it one bit. I'm not a Dean supporter, just a very astute & jaded observer from years of being paid to look at things globally.

There's an awful lot of hypocritical enthusiasm from certain quarters just to get Dean out of the way for 2008. Take heart though... Dean is no fool and neither are his supporters.

I agree with your post completely!

Members believe Kerry preparing for 2008 run
His fight over DNC is seen as signaling continued ambition
By Hans Nichols

(snip)

Dean has run into opposition among some congressional leaders who are demanding that he foreswear running again in 2008. Dean has been coy in his response to those lawmakers who want an assurance that he won't mount another bid, lawmakers say.

Doubts about Dean’s own ambitions appear to be hurting him in the House. “It’s just an obvious conflict of interest,” said Rep. Al Wynn (D-Md.).

33. It hasn't been unheard of in DNC past at all
I think it's a good idea to mesh talents but not compromise on vision. I am tired
of Democrats defining themsleves by the GOP talking point du jour. Dean doesn't do that. Rosenberg can be DNC COO.
