Approximately 6.2% of all energy consumed in the U.S. (by BTU) came from renewable sources. Where is the infrastructure and energy going to come from when the approx. 86% generated from coal, oil, and natural gas start to run out? Coal has a dirty and environmentally destructive process of extraction, not to mention the energy used to actually mine coal comes from OIL, and perhaps other non-renewable energy sources. There will be lots of coal, but it won’t be cost effective (or energy effective based on amount needed to extract or produce) to mine it once the cost of oil continues to rise. Cars, semis, planes, and buses don’t run on it. Natural gas is expected to peak shortly after oil. Building new nuclear facilities, wind farms, hydroelectric plants, etc. each require alot of time and energy (oil, coal, natural gas) to construct. Don’t see lots of this happening. This is all compounded by the fact that the earth has far exceeded its natural carrying capacity for people due to the availability of cheap fossil fuels. How will all of these people eat? The human population of earth is GROWING. The demand for energy is GROWING. Law of Limiting Factors, I think that is what it is called, just like ecology teaches us. Within an ecosystem, each species has factors that can control its population levels. You don’t have enough air, some die until there is enough. You don’t have enough food, some die until there is enough. You don’t have enough water, some die until there is enough. Get the idea? Less energy will equal less people. This will be good for the planet, but bad for us in the short term. This does not even consider what governments and people will try to do to maintain a nice share of energy in order to either stay alive or stay in power. Resource wars (what wars are almost always about), and social unrest may very well become the norm. Think about that and then look at what your government is doing right now. How do you like them apples?

During Iraq I, Cheney, Bush I, and Powell discovered compelling evidence that the Holy Grail (or Lost Ark of the Covenant, perhaps) was being hidden somewhere in Iraq, but Maggie Thatcher, realizing the disaster if such a powerful item fell into the wrong hands, pulled strings on the international stage to force an early end to the war.

Maggie then arranged the "sanctions" which effectively kept anyone from removing the Grail (or Arc) from Iraq without being discovered.

However, when governments changed in both the US and Britain, neither she nor Bush I told the new leaders (Clinton and Blair) about the "real" reasons for containment. Although after time the sanctions made less and less sense, they were impossible to overturn because too many nations were getting rich from the Oil for Food Program, also set up by Maggie.

During the entire Clinton Admin, Cheney, Wolfowitz, etc, were plotting how to get back to Iraq to find the Grail. The reason the RNC gave luke-warm support to Dole, for example, was that he wasn't "in on the plan" and probably would not have gone along. They needed their own candidate that they could trust to follow their lead. Thus was the GWB presidency born.

Obviously George was terribly under-qualified, so making their plan work would require massive voter fraud and a public misinformation campaign. Karl Rove was brought in to take care of the first. Ruppert Murdoch was in charge of the second. For 8 years they planned and plotted.

Their big break came when they got wind of intelligence that Bin Ladin was trying to launch terrorist attacks in the US. They defunded anti-terrorist campaigns, pulled back on intelligence gathering and took advantage of the dysfunctional atmosphere already rampant in the FBI. Then they sat tight and waited.

Unfortunately, the intelligence cutbacks also allowed someone to smuggle the Grail out of Iraq shortly after the initial bombing started. (It's possible that the seasoned operatives in the CIA, aware of what was going on, turned a blind eye when the object was smuggled out.) Although we conducted an exhaustive search (disguised as the search for the non-existent WMDs), we have found nothing. So now we are pushing hard for Iraq elections and a quick draw down of forces, so we can focus our efforts on Iraq's neighbors. Iran is a likely possibility, although N. Korea, chronically short of cash, may have agreed to take the object for temporary safe keeping. In the mean time, knowing that this may take longer to resolve than the 4 years George has left, Cheney and Co have begun grooming Jeb to take his place, so the search can continue uninterrupted.

So do I get the "tin foil hat award"? Do I???

The elite rich families of America got together to create their perfect candidate to become President some day. First up the Forbes family, their genes produced Steve Forbes-the inner workings were fine (the question of what data to upload is another matter) but the outer shell had serious problems and it never blinked.

Next up the Danforths, producing Dan Quayle (a name change that could stop any trail to this project cold)-the outer hardware was GREATLY improved but the hard drive was totally out of whack and the "spell check" had not been invented yet.

Now it was the Bush families turn, creating George-they tooled back the outer appearance and made great gains over the Danforth/Quayle model in terms of the inner wiring and processing though not as coherent as the Forbe's model.

Unfortunately the war ended and it was too difficult to hide the funding of this program so the families got together and decided to go with what they had. They would run the Forbes model out first but never let a connection to the others be even suggested. Then (here is the master stroke) the Danforth/Quayle model would be unveiled thereby lowering the standard for the highest public offices and in comparison the Bush model could actually be seen as acceptable.

Little did they know that some of the young volunteers took the information that had been amassed and some of the Forbes line to make John Kerry-tall, good looking, brave, fierce warrior, detail oriented, and able to blink and communicate. Unfortunately the Bushes had aligned with the controllers of the media (Fairness doctrine repealed in a paperwork switch by George HW Bush while Reagan wasn't looking "Here sign this") and the Bush model was declared the winner within minutes of polls closing and the Kerry model had been reprogrammed in a clean room during the summer to not put up a fight (insert picture of Kerry in the blue suit at the NASA site).

The last paragraph was added for the election and edited since.

Saddam had just announced that he was about to switch from the dollar to the euro as the preferred currency for the oil that was sold under the oil for food program.
With the rise of the euro, this would have lead to an even bigger increase in the price of oil than we see now (probably around $60 a barrel). This would have caused huge problems for the U.S. economy.
There are other reasons that this would have been bad for the U.S., but I don't remember exactly how and why..
Anyway, Saddam had to go, and a new government was installed.
After being installed, Allawi's government did two things right away: pledge not to join OPEC, and note the price oil in U.S. dollars...

Personally I am not sure about this theory, but it's not completely :tinfoilhat: either..

As ultimatly everything in the middle east outside Israel is. Not just Iraqs oil. The regions oil. Not just for us but to control the flow to Europe and Japan major trade competitors. The Saudi bases were both becoming problematic and too small, no other country strategicly placed was going to allow permanent military bases. Iraq. Its the oil. I dont scoff at the PNAC/Israel connection, but I think it secondary. Bush, Cheney, Rice, all oil people. Controlling a larger share of a shrinking and vital resource is gold. No better way to squeeze wealth out of the world.
