TYPICAL Bush Bullshit, just like his enthusiasm over a National Sales Tax during the campaign and his IMMEDIATE denial when the flames of public anger rose.

What was the FIRST thing that happened after the election? The National Sales Tax is "back on the table," and Dennis Hastert, the biggest supporter of its originator John Linder, PROMOTED Linder to GUARANTEE he would have the clout to fight for this SODOMIZING of the middle class.

If he PROPOSES something, and you don't LIKE it, he LIES about it until you DO. If he's going to give his "base" ongoing tax cuts, your children...and THEIR children...MUST bleed in order for this to happen. The money MUST come from THEM or the RICH will not get RICHER.



President Bush (news - web sites) says future retirees won't necessarily see smaller Social Security (news - web sites) checks if Congress approves his plan to allow younger workers to invest part of their payroll taxes.

His goal, he said Thursday, is to protect the federal retirement system "without bankrupting our economy by having to raise payroll taxes so high or dramatically slashing benefits."

He has "serious concerns" about the Education Department's decision to pay pundit Armstrong Williams to promote his policies. Bush said his Cabinet should prevent a recurrence. (Related story: President criticizes Education Dept. payout) USA TODAY reported last week that Williams, a conservative commentator, was paid $240,000 to talk about Bush's No Child Left Behind program. Williams has since said he erred but won't return the money.

"There needs to be a clear distinction between journalism and advocacy," Bush said. "I appreciate the way Armstrong Williams has handled this, because he has made it very clear that he made a mistake. All of us, the Cabinet, need to take a good look and make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen again."

2. My guess is that everything he denied will play out in the year ahead

I read something in an article the other day about the Democrats' plan to fight Bush's "agenda" tooth and nail. The comment was made that a second-term president has 18 months, at best, to accomplish his goals.

So I think we will get through the pomp and circumstance and baloney of January 20th, and after that, all kinds of ugly things will start surfacing...in rapid succession.

place? America has no long-term memory.

They'd probably believe he supports a draft and dems are blocking it.
