Let's analyze that comment. There's something very disturbing that lies under the surface of such a psyche. "They chose me"? As if it was a a simple popularity contest. And since he was more popular than the other candidate, that must mean he is the most popular person in the nation, or perhaps, the world? What is going thru his mind when he says, "they chose me"??

A deeper psychoanalyst than myself would need to analyze his words and feelings. However, narcissicism seems prevalent in the personality. Like the figure, Narcissus, will he pine away for his reflection in the spring? Who knows what lurks in the sick and evil mind now sitting in the Oval Office?

1. His voters chose him to stop gays and abortion. He CLAIMS otherwise.

He CLAIMS they support him on Iraq, more tax breaks for the wealthy, privatization of Social Security, and more secrecy in government.

THEY believe he was promising them an end to abortions and writing bias against gays into the Constitution.

Bush will make neither of those a priority and will never admit that was why people voted for him. He is already running away from the issues he harped on during the campaign to assure a greater turnout from the rightwing fundie groups.

2. Actually his statement is, of course, not entirely true

For example, setting aside the issues of election fraud, mishandling and what not, George Bush did not achieve a sizable majority. I last read there was an extimated 3 million split that enabled George Bush to take the presidency. With over a 100 million people voting, that isn't much of a spread. Nor were his number evenly distributed across the states. So, what does this statement of his really mean?

Its George Bush's way of saying, 'for those of you who did not vote for me, your vote is meaningless and you might as well have stayed home.'

I did not vote for Bush precisely not to approve the war in Iraq or its so called, "policies". So I guess George Bush can count me out of his little equation but I will continue to believe my vote counts.
