How can Jeb Bush be preempted?

IMO, there will be a leadership hole at the net in the repuke party in 2008, unless Jeb Bush runs.

I'm not saying that Jeb is a qualified leader, only that he has the name power to fit the bill.

Who else would run? Cheney? Rumsfield? Powell? Giuliani?

The first two names are non starters. Cheney and Rummy are both behind the scene guys and just don't have the charisma to stand in front. Powell is tarnished by his resignation, and Guiliani would never appeal to the rightwingers.

That being said, I think the most satisfying way to neuter Jeb is to smear his ass ragged before the next primary season. It may not be the most ethical, or the most honorable, but it will work, and I'm all about what works.

Of that I've no doubt. Still, I stand by my statement - none of them are POTUS stock, except for McCain, but I think his health is too poor.

Perhaps Frist, he's got the creds and the looks--and I realize that is 100% superficial, but then so is the packaging of a President in these days of 24/7 cable TV.

And btw, I did mention Guiliani in the 1st post.

.....He has 911 Timeline incidences noted in Paul Thompsons Book.....Jeb as reported signed Nat'l Guard order for State Police to relinguish authority and control to NG and thus the military heirarchy in case of catastrophic event.....this was signed a few weeks prior to 911 however was under consideration for months prior to signing.....It was termed a Martial Law concent decree at the time...

i just heard about that lately. didn't he sign that order to finalize it on the 9th or 10th? and only two other states declared a national emergency--new york and d.c. and jebbie declared it before the other two did.

on how well the Bush's second term goes (or the perception of it). It would not go over too easy to have a 3rd Bush as a dynasty candidate, he is actually someone who can be defeated by Hillary Clinton. It would be weird if those two ran against each other.

If the next 4 years are lucky for Dubya, Jeb has a real shot.

I'm betting that the economy won't improve that much and that Iraq will get much worse.

So I expect McCain to run, George Allen, Bill Frist, and maybe Jeb.

Of those, none is acceptable and all are far right. McCain is a likeable man but that voting record is just too much for me.

I'm fearful that the Republican nominee will be the Cat Butcher.
