According to John at the blog americablog, it appears that the Democratic Party is strongly considering naming Martin Frost as the DNC chairman. John is pushing the idea that we pledge to not give any money to the Democratic Party. I am with John on this idea. Is there anyone who is willing to write letter to the Democratic Party and tell them that we will not give money to the party if Frost is elected to the DNC chairman? I somewhat feel that if many people tell the Democratic Party that we will not give money if they give Frost or someone like him in the leadership role they will not put them in power.

Even in the Rice confirmation hearing, they are just frittering around the edges- if not outright in agreement. Another opportunity to say it like it is, squandered.

7. I already plan on not sending the DNC money if anyone but Dean gets the

And I plan on returning solicitations from the DNC with the card marked $0.00 and make the DNC pay for the postage. They usually include the "postage not required but it would help the DNC if you paid for the stamp" envelopes with the solicitation card. I will also include a form letter from me saying that I am supporting Dean's group DFA because they represent my Democratic values. The DNC no longer does.

but that doesn't mean that no one else is any good. Frost did a great job when he was the head of the DCCC. He'd do a good job as Chair.

11. What is Frost's record on organizing grassroots volunteers?

Past performance has nothing to do with future success. As a minority party with no clout at just about any level of government, Democrats are going to have to operate in a much more challenging reality than they have in the past. Has Frost ever lead a loyal opposition to a bunch of liars? Has he organized grassroots volunteers with virtually no money and absolutely no (totally negative) media attention or help? How about researching dirty stuff on the opposition? Is he too high minded to play in Rove's sandbox or can he rub the opposition's nose in the dirt when necessary?

Kerry was a wonderful, nice guy and by far the best candidate in 2004. But his high minded politics did not get us or him anywhere in the struggle with the Bush bunch. We need a fighter who is also a good man. That is a rare combination. The only person who has shown he has it is Howard Dean. That is why I support him for DNC chair.

The Democratic Party elite is in denial about what has happened to the political environment in this country. I can't blame them. I also remember the time when you really could hardly tell Republicans from Democrats. When I first voted, my father told me not to vote a straight ticket because you don't want to destroy one of the parties. He said that there can be no democracy without the two-party system. That's the political world in which today's Democratic leaders grew up. It hurts to know that reality has gone the way of nickel cokes, Kresge's five and ten, I Love Lucy and drive-in movies. The Democratic leadership is afraid of Dean because by electing him as the national chair they would be admitting that American politics have changed and gotten ugly. What they don't realize that "things" will get a whole lot uglier unless and until the democratic leadership faces reality. The only way we can get Republicans to move to the center and become more civil is to beat them over an over at the polls (assuming elections are fair) and in public opinion (even if elections are not fair). We can only do that by being strong and realistic. Boxer is showing the way, but I don't know if she realizes why what she is doing is so important.

He will do what it takes to win. I want Dean to get the job. But I don't like when people throw fits that someone else may get it and threaten to take their ball and go home.
