Sir,
Last night I saw your opening statement to Ms. Rice at the Senate hearings on her nomination. I found myself in total disagreement with you on two points.
1. That you will vote for her confirmation. This is a woman, who as National Security Adviser, failed in every major task given to her. I think Sen. Boxer was probably correct when she said, "Your loyalty to your mission you were given overwhelmed your respect for the truth, and I don't say it lightly," I think Sen. Boxer's assessment was correct on point, when you consider how many different scenarios this administration has given for why we're in Iraq. Ms. Rice has been the point person on several major projects of the Bush administration, like the "Isreali-Palestinian Roadmap" and she has failed in every endeavor. If this qualifies her to be Secretary of Defense, then the qualifications for the job must be quite low.
2. You said you had a message for Europeans, "Get over it." As an American who has lived overseas for a while and has seen the damage this administration has caused to the rest of the world through its sheer arrogance, my question is, "Get over what?" Get over the fact that from the time Mr. Bush has been president he has mocked and ridiculed the rest of the world (Beginning with the Kyoto Treaty). Get over the fact that he has tried to intimidate other governments with the threat of force and when others question his motives he attempts to intimidate them? What should they get over? He's President -- So what? He's a lousy president and most of the world hates him.
Maybe when you travel, you should pay better attention instead of resorting to the Bush tactic of ridiculing others.
