Jeb for VP ???

I'm sure someone else has thought of this.......

Jeb Bush leaves office as Governor of Florida in 2007 (term limits) - Crashcart Dick Cheney gets a sudden bout of ill-health and resigns. Assuming the Repugs still have majorities in both Houses of Congress, who does the Chimp pick for his new VP ??? The dynasty could live on, and on, and on.

I know it's far-fetched, but then again look at where the US (and the world) is today - I think the Repugs would do ANYTHING to hold on to power. The Dems and everyone else would scream "nepotism", but since when has this malAdministration listened to anyone ?? They just do what they damn well want and say anything because their base will just lap it up and say "more, please".

I don't know if it will be Jeb or not..

Of course, the Repubs may be trying to distance themselves from Dubya by 2008

When Kennedy appointed his brother Robert as Attorney General, the Republicans screamed and whined, and forced in a law that said the President couldn't appoint a close relative to his cabinet or similar position.

This was before the President could nominate a new Vice-President under the 25th Amendment, so the subject of could Kennedy have tapped Bobby to replace Lyndon Johnson, and so on, never came up in debates.

For a while, this law was referred to as the "Bobby Bill." It's little remembered nowadays, but we could make a good case that it applies to any high-level appointed office that the President can fill. And Vice-President qualifies.

Given Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress from 1954 to 1980, how could the GOP force through a bill???

So far, the possible replacements have been: McCain, Guiliani, Rice, Rumsfeld, Jeb, Ridge, and Allen.

Cheney's probably going to outlive us all.

8. Anti-kingmaker law

according to Dan Quayle's wife, George I wanted * as his VP, but an "anti-kingmaker" law prohibits family members from "ruling" the country together. Mrs. Quayle said that Danny was chosen because he "strongly reminded the elder Bush* of his son".
