She thinks she has a lock on the liberal activists--I'm not so sure. She thinks her real work is to appeal to independents and moderates--which is what she has pretty much been trying to do since going to the senate.

I know very few Democrats who want to see her on the ticket. She would be certain to lose. Her mere presence on the ticket would in the minds of many, confirm the conspiracy theories that were circulated by the far right concerning the Clinton's roll in Kerry's loss. Democratic insiders and pundits who go weak in the knees at the thought of another Clinton presidency. I am NOT a Hillary supporter. No one ran against her in the Senate primary which pissed me off. I hate legacy jobs, and too much of the Senate is filled with career pols that think it's a lifetime position....or they're related to a previous senator/ congressional rep. It's what makes the voter cynical.

The Clintons ran so far right that I no longer recognized my party....explains my vote in 2000.

I work for a RW Talk Station and their major talking point is.. "Hillary is running in "08, she has a lock on the nomination, and we don't have a candidate that can beat her. If she runs, she'll win!"

Which, of course, means they think running the Bush's dog Barney would beat her, and they'll do anything they can to help her get the nomination.

4. I think I can honestly say...

That I would not vote for her. There are very few dems who I can say that about, but she is one of them. It has nothing to do with positions as much as it does the fact that the ensuing hatred and division in this country would be ratcheted up 10 fold and I just could not handle that. Just as my issue with Bush was that I thought it was pathetic that the republicans said "O.K. of all the people in the entire country, we feel that the one who is most qualified is coincidentally the son of an ex president. What do you know about that, huh?". I feel it would be just as absurd for the left to say the same thing about Hillary.

I can see where she had to go as a former First Lady and a current Senator (Kerry and Carter were both there after all) but she seems to be drifting to the right.

I just don't think we need to try to run Hillary for president. I don't get why people think she's viable. She's got so much baggage some real (her votes as a Senator) and some not (RW allegations) that I think she'd be more divisive then * and the GOP would walk away with an easy win.

Also, as much as I hate to play into stereotypes, a woman will not be elected president when we've got troops in the field. It's an ugly mysgonistic attitude but I think the mentality is out there. And I say that as a woman.

I completely agree that Hillary would be way too divisive for a Democrat to win. Unfortunately, if she runs she'll most likely win the primaries because of the Dems so loyal to Bill and his legacy and then would promptly lose the general election. What a Democratic candidate has to be able to do is get some cross-party voters. I just don't think she could do that. Generally, I think that people either love her or hate her. There really doesn't seem to be much of an in-between.

And, as a woman, I agree that a woman will not be elected president in 2008. I hadn't even thought of the problem of having troops in the field, but that solidifies it even more.

That's right. First of all, she knew little to nothing about health care and health policy so why did she get the nod to head the project? It's called nepotism. Had she done a bang up job, nepotism would not be an issue. She didn't. She screwed up badly, offended people, failed to respond to Bit Pharma's attacks, which were anticipated. And, oh, she totally forgot for any mental health coverage. How about that!

She blew the only chance for national health insurance coverage.

She will never get my vote. I'll go Green or something. That would be my first vote ever for someone other than a Democrat.

I don't trust anyone with the Clinton name here on this date in 2005.

I have nothing against her personally, but I think any standing she has in polls (including in 2003) is about name recognition. I think the media hypes her as a possibility because they love to hate the Clintons, and they think it makes a "story."

I think Democrats will once again look very carefully at "electability" and conclude that she's not it this time.
