The irony is that the more you hate Bush, they more they love him

At least, that is the way it seems to me. No doubt, that is is why Reagan was so glorified. He was not well-liked by most Democrats that I knew. Today, the Repubs are ready to put him on Mt Rushmore, if they had their way.

But, how does one not hate what Bush is doing to the country? They seem to thrive on the division. They are like suckling pigs gobbling up the hate and turning it into greedy and sloppy hog love. They snort and go on their way, ignoring everyone that does not love their esteemed leader.

Clinton had some support from ordinary voters including some Republicans. From what I can see, Democrats universally despite Bush. Kentuck has a good point. They may love him precisely because we despise him so. I had never thought of it quite that way before.

The more they hated him, the more I fell in love with him (as a politician). I researched to figure out why they hated this guy and I simply couldn't. I really do believe they hated him because he was from the south and he wasn't a good ol boy. And the fact that he was good looking with sex appeal.:-)

5. There may be some Democrats that hate Bush but

most don't hate him personally. They hate his policies. But with Clinton, the republicans HATED that man on a personal level (and they still do!).

6. They are defensive....

They have made the decision (for whatever reason) to like Bush, and
criticism of him threatens that decision, so they cling to it ever tighter.

This kind of "support" for Bush in largely emotional. He is an empty suit,
easy to project one's Presidential fantasies onto, just like Reagan was.
I suspect part of their projection has to do with imagining Bush to be
unfairly persecuted, a common fantasy of passive, angry people.

7. Do they really love him?

Or is about who they really hate?

The hate Saddam. They hate terrorists. (they believe who they are told to hate) Some of them hate gays. Some of them don't like women very much.

The fear...US.. gays and weakness. They are afraid of dying..they believe what they've been told..Saddam being gone makes them safer.

Sure some like Bush...but it's about an idea.. an idea of being safer..an idea that Gays aren't going to "take over" their community, their school ect... it's about the idea that they will have more money because of lower taxes with Bush.

It's a myth. It's not all that personal in their great love of him, otherwise, heh they wouldn't have to steal and suppress votes now would they?

They think our "hate" of Bush is because we are weak. That we are anti-God, and that he is pro-God. That we don't understand they have simple ideas, like they don't want to DIE and are AFRAID of GAY people and why oh why don't we understand Bush is saving us from all that?

* "s approval ratings were only sky high in the post 9-11 days when there was LITERALLY no criticism of him allowed EVER on the corporate media. As soon as the Dems starting criticizing him again (although not nearly as much aa they should have) his ratings went down. It does hurt him when the other side is represented. If we had even a somewhat even playing field in the press, he'd be toast. I think most of his followers know little or nothing about politics and government, and just swallow what they hear on FOX. They want to be on the winning side. The less popular * appears, the better for us.
