To people who think "Dean is NUTS!"
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 11:38 PM by Paragon
Fuck you. How's that for "anger"?

I finally saw the "controversial" footage while watching Tom Brokaw interview John Stewart on NBC, and it would only be considered "over-the-top" to people who are accustomed to falling asleep listening to John Kerry or Wesley Clark.

There are two groups of sharks who smelled blood in the water after that -- reporters who needed to fill 30 seconds with the Dean meme, and anyone else from another campaign.

I look forward to distorting all of your candidates in the same manner very soon. Hey, it's politics, right?

3. Nice post, dude.
Is it me, or did everyone agree that we need a fighter to beat Bush, we have one OBVIOUSLY from last night, and now we have eight billion circlejerk threads (sorry, it's the truth) by Clark supporters.

Later.

10. It is a CLEAR majority Clark supporters, and that SERIOUSLY is the truth.
Good try at...whatever it was you were doing. I don't know, distorting the content of the last 92% of threads here.

12. Spin it anyway you want
There was a good cross section of all the canidates supporters posting about dean's behavior last night. If it makes you feel better to blame it on Clark's supporters then so be it. It dosn't make it any less true.

16. Do I really have to count?
Or can I just assume from the threads having Clark's smiling face at me over and over and OVER again?

both supported by the Kucinich and Edwards people...

11. But Kerry's speech was angry! He is the angry man
and his speech was really good. Personally I saw it as a Dean speech from 6 months ago. Dean always had anger and hope, but not according to a lazy media. Now Kerry criticizes Bush throughout a speech...but no "He's so angry label?"

25. We need a fighter who fights smart, has good aim and picks his punches
not a guy who just wails away mindlessly, missing more often than he connects, leaving himself open for a knockdown.

4. Pelosi and Daschle...
certainly could have made their response a little less comatose if they had .0001% of Dean's passion.

15. Just got back from the neighbors... Dean's speech played fine...
I just got back from a chat next door with about a dozen neighbors, including the lone Limbaugh dope, who was out to get his digs in on SOTU night. Of course, he brought up the Dean speech. Interestingly, no one else understand the hype about it. And, excepting myself, there are no other Dean supporters in that crowd, which included three Republicans (in addition to Limbo's pal) and a Kerry supporter, with the rest all in the Clark camp. They all looked at it as the press hyping nothing in something. And I didn't say a word on the subject.

No distortion.

He popped a nut in front of the whole country.

He is absolutely unelectable at this point.

Just imagine the pub ads looping his breakdown.

God forbid, he's having fun. And anyone who makes sweeping generalizations about anything is about as smart as Bush.

29. No - he's being laughed AT
Sort of like at the recent debate when the audience burst out laughing at him and his supporters insisted that he was in on the joke.

28. Who is "Everyone."
I don't know anyone outside of a Limbot who is laughing or worried about the big speech that is now so ridiculously overblown. At this point, it may help him, as the hype has not matched people's expectations when they see it. I suspect that it's actually going to backfire against Dean's opponents in the next few days, as this phenomenon repeats itself.

31. Feel free to think what you want...
but a lot of people, myself included, realize that the performance was over-the-top.

Worst of all, it plays EXACTLY into the negative impression a lot of people have of Dean - that his campaign is all about anger.

He came across as angry on an issue he didn't have to be angry about!

Dukakis was hammered for his tank escapade because it played right into the perception of him as a geek, and somewhat soft. He looked silly in the helmet.

Nixon's five o'clock shadow played into the perception that he was shifty and untrustworthy.

Many years later, we still discuss those things. People will be discussing Dean's speech last night as emblematic of everything that was wrong with his campaign.

32. Some of you here are crazier than you say Dean is...
After going through eight years of smear with Clinton you'd think this would be the last place you'd want to engage in that.
