Had he quit drinking a long time ago.

I saw him out and about in Hyannis, and I've seen him drunk. He's a very jolly drunk, never mean or belligerent, seems more like a problem drinker than an alcoholic.

Still, overconsumption does have a terrible effect on the aging process.

It wasn't just alcohol either.

I know that a great deal of drinking over a long period of time can cause broken blood vessels around the nose (gin blossoms), and jaundice in the case of liver damage. Didn't he kind of clean up after marrying Vickie though?
