U.S. citizens allowed to vote in Iraqi elections???

U.S. citizens can vote if they can prove they have a mother/father who was born in Iraq. Isn't this the kind of stuff that drives freeps up the wall? I can imagine freeps saying something along the lines like, "These people are Americans. Why do they want to vote in another country? Did they vote here? If they don't like it here, they can leave".

It's a desperate ploy by BushCo, that's all it is.

But I think that anyone who can prove that their parents were born in the U.S., should be allowed to vote in the next Presidential election, no matter where they were born.

There's absolutely nothing illegal about holding dual citizenship.

6. No, but usually, upon getting US citizenship, one relinquishes all

others. Only exceptions like Adolph manage to avoid that. I am betting that all W's voters have no Iraqi citizenship - and many of them are rapture knuckledraggers with no connection with Iraq whatsoever.

Why would one bother going to the effort, unless you're rich and trying to dodge taxes in your country of origin? (Or unless your country of origin has laws against holding dual citizenship.) In particular, it seems kind of hard to believe that a totalitarian regime like that of the Baathists would have paperwork to fill out for people wanting to renounce their citizenship.

There's nothing unusual about an ex-pat voting in their old country. In fact some groups like this one encourage it. Also realize, it's not just in the U.S. that Iraqi voting stations are being set up. I believe 14 countries are hosting these things, and in Canada alone there are 11,000 potential Iraqi voters.

Bear in mind, I'm not trying to argue that this election is on the up and up. On the contrary, I think it's a fucking joke. I'm just sayin' that the fact there is an organized effort to enable expat Iraqis to vote has nothing to do with the illegitimacy of the election.

Israeli citizens vote in our elections. That fact gave hope during the Gore-Bush election... but now I think many of those holding such dual citizenship have gone over to the dark side (neoconservatism).

Plain and simple,US troops do the heavy lifting,get killed and US taxpayers foot the bill for EVERYTHING. Exactly what happened in VN,their 19-20 year olds wanted nothing to do with getting shot up for their countrys freedoms,nah let Americans take the hits.
