corporate media is setting up shop in Iraq, by sending their more well known correspondents to cover the election. Personally, I think this is to get some serious propaganda over the airwaves, as we all know that turnout will be pathetic and the "insurgents" will be out in full force. We also know how important to * it is that the world's "perception" of the election is positive.

Do you agree with my assumptions and do you know of any websites that will be posting accurate updates regarding the election?

2. I know Anderson Cooper just got to Iraq and CNN is running lots

of commercials about their "full coverage" of the election on Sunday. And the guy, I can't think of his name, but I believe he replaced Dan Rather, he's been on various talk shows in recent weeks, is heading over to cover the election. I believe Geraldo will be there for FOX, though he has been there on several occasions. Not positive on the others specifically, but I've heard that the major corporate media networks will be sending fairly well-known correspondents over.

I saw Campbell Brown tonight on MSNBC and she wasn't sugarcoating the reality. It will probably be bad but there are people with hope. I feel for the Iraqis who will vote regardless, as I fear for our soldiers.
Also, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, Brian Williams, Christiana Amanpour, they are there to document, one would hope.

with quaint baskets on their arms, and little children huddling next to them, and someone like Anderson Cooper will go up to them and we'll hear, "Zubah al-Whatever was frightened at first, but them she decided not to miss this historic opportunity to participate in democracy (never mind that women in Iraq were doing just fine, even under Saddam), and so she has taken a break from making hummus for her family, and with her morning shopping done, she has come here to breathe the pure air of freedom..."

And of course we will then be cued to have tears in our eyes, thinking of these simple, trusting people, who only want freedom, and who love Americans and want to be just like them, and then we'll be cued to cuss at the "murderous insurgents" who of course would prefer that these poor, formerly-oppressed people, be kept in mud huts with no running water and no electricity (oh... wait... that's only happened SINCE the Americans invaded...)
