By law, women are required to be 33% of the candidates in Iraq. A repuglican woman said that quotas are very appropriate in Iraq, but not in the United States. How so?

like most major muslim countries, women hardly had any rights at all...not being allowed to leave the house without a man...not being allowed to speak freely, to show her face without a burka, to be educated, etc. They want to insure this doesnt happen in Iraq.

2. Excuse me?? That's not Iraq you are talking about..
.. but Saudi Arabia..
Iraq under Saddam Hussein may have been a dictatorship, but it was a secular one, with equal rights for women. Women were definitely allowed to show their faces in public. Many filled high positions in Saddams cabinet. As an example, the head of his biological warfare program (dr. Germ) was a woman with a PhD.
Individual men may have treated women like dogs, but when it comes to women's rights, Iraq had the best track record of the middle east..
