so I talked to my old employer yesterday...
This is a woman who runs the independent bookstore where I worked from 1992-1995.

Anyhow, she's also very much a solid mainstream Democrat. She's Jewish, mid-60s, longtime small business owner, middle class, husband is a professor at Emory, lives and works in Georgia's 4th congressional district, has unerring judgement regarding good books. And she supports Howard Dean, but wonders how he or anyone else will defeat Bush in 2004.

Discuss.

1. I'm digusted by the constant liberal worrying.
Throw the kitchen sink at Shrub in 2004. If unsuccessful, repeat in 2008. And so forth.

We all know what we have to do.

5. All we have to do is vote and bu$h will go home
Well, that and get the black boxes to produce a paper trail. To even think of being able to push a voting device without a paper trail shows how stupid the politicians think Americans are and how strong a hold they have on the media.
the fact that Bu$h has not been impeached shows how corrupt the system is. Not one person in the House has entered Articles of Impeachment. I wish Kucinich would do so, or anybody, for that matter.

2. What is this "Independant bookstore" you speak of?
Are not all bookstores owned by multinational corporations? Is it possible to sell books w/o being located in a box store?

Is such a thing possible!!!???

4. The next election is for us to take
Everything that Republicans try to pass off as a success can be used against them.
They don't have not one success that they can speak of.

6. I had another fruitless discussion with my
mother-in-law today. I can't get her excited enough about any Dem to get registered to vote. She won't vote for Bush, but I can't get her to even seriously consider any Dem candidate.

Why? She answered my silent question by stating that people don't really care. I think she's right about voter apathy. But people won't think about it long enough to consider where they were four years ago and where they are headed now. They feel powerless and hopeless, and refuse to put any energy into this election.

It really depresses me that someone that watches politics (superficially, I might add) as much as she does has no interest in voting.
