Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 07:14 PM by EVDebs
Republicans already know it but we're stuck in Iraq for ten or twenty years...'that's not so bad' according to Sen John McCain and his fellow Bush followers. See the Bob Herbert column on the repubs bizarre parallel universe

http://www.iht.com/articles/537205.html

"When asked this week on CNN how long the U.S. military is likely to remain in Iraq, Senator John McCain replied "probably" 10 or 20 years. "That's not so bad," he said, adding, "We've been in Korea for 50 years. We've been in West Germany for 50 years."

The repub lobotomy factory is working overtime.

1. mccain
He has bad analogies for these....

Germany declared war on the US, and we won
Korea was a conflict that did include the UN at the time

Iraq never invaded or attacked the US

3. I know what he means (or what he's trying to get people to believe,
as a comparison), but the situations are very different.

4. They need to keep the troops abroad. Helps the unemployment numbers.
Iraq will be the new outpost in the ME and the Iraqi people will gradually come to accept this as the Saudis did. We will be good for their economy and ours.

5. That sucking sound you hear
is the straw at the end of the oil barrel.....McCain, et al want more and haven't yet figured out that its cheaper to buy it than to try to steal it.

They'll never learn.
