So I'm in the gun store the other day...
With my mechanic, Kyle.
The owner is a HARD right wing nut-case, and most everyone else who hangs out there blindly follows his lead. They don't know me very well in there, so I either keep my mouth shut, or play moderate repub.

Now Kyle buys from this guy frequently, and talks politics with him alot. He's known to hit both sides of the spectrum, and see through the bullshit.

So...

The owner just blurts out, "Yknow all that stuff you said about Bush before the election? Well, I'll be damned if all of it didn't turn out to be true! Me 'n the boys here are starting to think that your boy Dean, or Clark are the way to go!"

I was amazed. Some old school cons if poked, will see through the neocon bullshit!

1. A lot of...
...people are irked with Bush, even conservatives. In some ways he's to liberal for them. So basically he's trying to play the middle, and maybe it's working as far as getting votes, but not in "good" politics. (meaning, trying to do good things, by either conservative or liberal standards)

Lots of Gun owners seem to be leaning towards Dean. If the "Assault Weapons Ban" gets renewed, you'll see a *lot* of people that voted for Bush orginally defecting to either the democratic side or libertarian side.

5. I found something realy cool-
about people, a while back on Kucinich's volunteer board. We've got a thread there with over 100 responses, all Kucinich supporters sending him rational arguments against his position on gun control. I'm hoping like hell he's been reading them and considering their points because they've convinced me to change my position.

6. Got a link?
Do you have a link for that site? I'd love to see some of those points.

11. Sure! There are actually two threads-
and you'll have to register to read them. We had a DoS attack recently and changed the requirements for reading and posting. :-(

http://us.denniskucinich.us/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=909

The above one is the longest one and the one with the points that convinced me.

The next one has fewer posts and seemed to kick the whole discussion off.

The Dean Republican.

4. Yeah...
I've been seeing similar things here in Colorado Springs but
I'm still skeptical. We can only hope at this point, right?

7. wrong
We can also work. Get the word out. Build the party, write letters to the editor about Team Bush and anything else you can think of.

The media won't do it so we have to.

Rock on Dems!

9. Check out this "Conservatives Against Bush" website
http://www.conservativesagainstbush.com/http://www.conservativesagainstbush.com/

Some -- but not all -- of their issues with Bush are the same as ours, which would seem to present an opening for a candidate like Dean:

-- Bush's fiscal irresponsibility

-- The aftermath of the Iraq war

-- Wolfowitz, the neo-cons, and imperialism

-- The Ashcroftonian assault on liberty

-- The Patriot Act

10. I like to point out
that the way this bunch are going thru the Bill of Rights, how long before the 2nd amendment and the thought of an armed populace starts them thinking of "gun control", as in confiscation.
