Condi in 08 - the final straw that breaks the Dems backs
Karl Rove wasn't just about winning with Bush. He wants to destroy the democratic party for forever. Running Condi in 08 will be a gauranteed victory for the Repubs, once again under Rove's control.

1. There are Republicans who can win in 08
Condi is not one of them.

3. she's an idiot
STRIKE ONE (no I'm not serious, but my point is she's ignorant and before you say, well look at the shrub!)

she's black

STRIKE TWO

there's a HUGE section of the repuglicans who won't vote for her if the democrats nominate a white person, especially one with a military background, oh, like say, WES!

finally, there's all the commercials that could be played over and over with her stupid comments, of course they don't seem to do that to people as much as they should, but with her, and her appearances before the senate... no way...

STRIKE THREE

so, it's gonna be RUDY, or some other Rethuglican hack... regardless, I will MOVE guaranteed if they win again, sorry, heard about how leaving now would be so wrong of anyone, but come on 12 years of their crap will be enough to send me into a seizure...

8. GOP passed on Powell in 96, why would they take Condi in 08?
It's hard to overstate the Southern white (and their diaspora in trailer parks across America's) animus toward blacks.

The would gain some moderate and black votes, and lose most of their base to dixiecrat break away.

5. Barring another terrorist attack in the US,
by 2008, it will be safer to publicly blame Condi for 9/11. The case has already been made, it will only be a matter of presentation.

25. I sure would enjoy if your theory was accurate!
And I have nothing personal against Condi, but do believe she should shoulder a lot of the blame for her lack of attention to that 'memo' we almost didn't get to hear about.

7. Sure, if she performs verifiable miracles and morphs into a white male
with a twang or southern accent by '08, imo. Remember their base voter, the type of person they appeal to most strongly - the ones the Northeasters DON'T appeal to...

10. I don't even think that race is the biggest issue, nor being female
although that is too is debatable.

I think her reputation as a liar, her inability to face the harsh give and take of things without wimping out would drop her from contention. She's a big woosy and if she had to face a pounding day in and out, she would fold.

14. That anyone could answer...
anything but 'UNSURE' without knowing anything except the candidate's gender and party is bigotry.

And it's interesting to note that Rep. have the highest percentage of UNSURE votes.

13. She's Pro-Choice.

And despite the fact that so is most of the Voting Public, the would-be Theocrats, Christian Reconstructionists, and Crazed Church Lady crowd has the political punditry so cowed that it's actually debateable whether or not the Democrats will even run someone pro-Choice. The GOP? It'll never happen.

You can stick all your Rudy and Ahhhhhhh-Nold predictions in that same drawer, and I will eat my shorts if I am proven wrong.

I don't think she could survive the Primaries, but as Veep she'd pull enough African_American votes to cause the Dems to lose again.

then you'll be utterly dumbstruck at what the conservative elements of the GOP will do to Condi. A black, intellectual, socially moderate, unmarried female? Come on.

23. Condi takes orders, she dosn't give them
The GOP voted for Bush, not for Condi. Condi is nothing but an extension of Dubya and his policies. If she ever showed signs that she wanted to be more than a powerless sycophant -- that she wanted to be indpendent, or assertive, or even a *gulp* leader -- she'd be booted clear out of GOPland (much like Powell). The GOP dosn't mind using Condi as window-dressing, but they would never tolerate her leading their party.

26. I know what you're saying, but neither does Bush imho
This is a whole group of people, a neo-con movement. As I see it, the Chimp is just a figurehead who doesn't have a deep understanding of anything, who reads the scripts put in front of him, who goes along with whatever his handlers tell him. ("Didn't we already cut taxes for rich people? ... Oh, okay.")

She would be the same way. She's a family friend, a player, one of the "loyalists." I could see them propping her up next if she'd give them the voice they need in the WH, and I think she would.

27. But Dubya didn't get elected because of the neocons
Rather, the neocons managed to seize power because Dubya got elected. In addition to being a neocon, Bush is also acceptable to the GOP as a whole (white, southern, born-again, anti-intellectual, in the pocket of large corporations, etc). Although Condi is a neocon, I don't the she would be acceptable to the bulk of the GOP, and I don't think the backing of the neocon movement would be enough to get Joe Republican to vote for her, particularly if she were up against someone who fit the conservative GOP model better. I have no doubt that the neocons might try to prop her up, but I honestly don't think it would go anywhere.

... Condi isn't going to win jack shit, not with Rove or anyone else running her campaign.

For every black Dem they manage to win over there will be 3 racist sexist repugs to vote against her.

This is one dire prediction I'm not buying.
