Now That We Have Met All Of Our Goals In Iraq...
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 09:21 AM by DistressedAmerican
I've been watching CNN and MSNBC and it appears that all is well now in our little fledgling Middle Eastern colony of Iraqica (or is it Ameristan? I get so confused these days).

As they are reporting it, Bush has met all of his stated goals over there. So, I assume it is time to come home. Right?

What do they actually have planned? Opinions?

3. I'm not so sure this won't happen
It's hard to say--If they do withdraw (while leaving a base or two almost certainly), it does free them up for some other nonsense (syria, iran, venuzuela (which I hope it's not them because that's hard to spell)).

6. In fact, it is my prediction.
By Feb 7, an announcement of some troops coming home.

Fact is, there is never going to be a better time for an asshole like Bush to declare victory. If it goes bad from now on, which it is still most likely to do, it's the Iraqis fault because Bush gave them democracy. But there is never going to be another discrete occurance of "success", given that expectations have nowhere to go but up.

13. You know that is the first time I've considered Venuzuela
as an option. They DO have a shitload of OUR oil under THEIR land. Any chance of trumping up some WMD charges?

4. I Believe That Is Wishful Thinking...
The Neocon agenda is all about creating bases for US forces in the region. I have posted The Project For A New American Century's classic paper "Rebuilding America's Defenses" to my website:
http://www.seedsofdoubt.com/distressedamerican/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf

Take a look. It pretty much outlines their intentions.

One of my favorite parts? It lists among the military's top 4 duties "Perform the "constabulary duties" associated with shaping the security environment in critical regions." The best euphemism for becoming the world police I have ever read!

I suspect we'll be performing the hell out of some "Constabulary Duties" for years to come.

8. Then let's qualify the withdrawal
It will mean a few thousand US hunkered down in fortified bases working hard to keep themselves safe and not 160,000 US patrolling the streets trying to keep Iraqis safe.
