Gates Endorses Governor Howard Dean for DNC Chair



Denver, CO – Colorado Democratic Party Chair Chris Gates endorsed Governor Howard Dean today for Chair of the Democratic National Committee. After the withdrawal of former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb, Gates spoke with Dean and pledged his support.



An early supporter of Dean’s run for the Presidency, Gates stated that "Howard Dean has been a thoughtful advocate for progressive change, both as governor of Vermont and as a candidate for president. And I think he'll make a great national party chair."



Webb, who also is endorsing Dean, was commended by Gates for his strong showing in the race. Gates credited Webb's candidacy for "making sure that the party understands that the West needs to be an integral part of its national strategy."
