AFL-CIO decided not to endorse anyone in DNC race
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=536&ncid=536&e=6&u=/ap/20050201/ap_on_re_us/democrats_chair

<snip>AFL-CIO leaders decided Tuesday not to make an endorsement in the race for Democratic National Committee (news - web sites) chairman, a move that could make it harder for any of Howard Dean (news - web sites)'s rivals to stop his push for the party leadership.

"The AFL-CIO political committee decided Tuesday not to make an endorsement for DNC chair," said Christy Setzer, a spokeswoman for the labor group.<snip>

1. Good.
About damn time Labor realizes it can still be its own force without trying to tack on to the Democrats.

2. There's no reason for them to do so.
AFL-CIO is a separate entity.

4. This was the one Frost and Fowler hoped for
per all the commentators. So, it was a setback for the anti-Dean forces per what all the politicos say.

3. I thought this might happen
My thinking was that the SEIU ( most probably ) and the AFSCME ( possibly ) would be in Dean's corner. This would certainly be the case after the ASDC Dean endorsment. The combined weight of those two unions would be enough to block an endorsment by the AFL-CIO. This is very bad news for Frost, no wonder Pelosi and Reid are avoiding him.

5. Now, hopefully
The groups that supported Dean in the Primaries will support him for chair....(fingers crossed)
