Iraqi election: Am I the only party pooper?

Am I the only party pooper who feels like this election is nothing but a flash in the pan?
Sure people put their lives on the line to go and vote, Great! But what does it really mean in terms of improving the day to day lives of iraqis.... that is what this was supposed to be about.... after the WMD thing fell through.

How long until insurgents start delivering severed blue tipped fingers to police stations?

When the votes are counted how safe will it be for the winners to assume power?

Will it really be a government by and of the governed or will it be a puppet of the bush dynasty?

Was this election any more honest than our own?

does all of this make me a pessimist or a realist?

1. The Election ...

will have the same impact as all of the other milestones that we have reached. See the following graphic to see what I mean.

This is just another hollow promise that things will get better once we "<insert_favorite_milestone>". But as we can see, not much changes except for the hatred that the Iraqis have for us.

I mean do you even read other posts? Dozens and dozens of posters have complained that the Iraqi Elections are a farce. In fact you'd be far more alone if you argued that the Iraqi Elections might be the first step to our withdrawel and the rebuilding of Iraq.
