I think Ed Schultz knows how to fight the pubs on Social Security
He makes it a populist economic issue (which is exactly what it should be). He points out it will be the largest infusion of cash into Wall Street in history. He talks about Bush taking care of his 'Ranger' and 'Pioneer' fundraisers.

He also talks about the deficit all the time.

1. Yeah, I'll have to start using those points
Welcome to the DU by the way. From Montana never the less. We need all the Montana DUers we can get. I'm a huge fan of Gov. Brian. I think he has a bright future ahead of him.

2. Thanks, DalvaThree. Glad to hear Schultz is framing it to play well to
rural audiences. We need more talk about the big payoff to Wall Street (lots of fees to brokerage houses too) and the rich contributors to bush*.

Also need to diffuse the notion that every person would be able to invest however they want. Aren't there some limits about that?

Welcome to the DU! Eventually, there'll be enough of us in the Big Sky State to make a meet up fun! :hi: from east of you a ways.

3. Just like this
Which is what Kerry said on MTP:

"What President Bush wants to do is put at risk something that has stood up not as an investment program but an insurance program, an insurance against poverty. Without Social Security, 50 percent of seniors would be in poverty. Without Social Security, people with disabilities, widows, orphans, children would not get help. And the president is willing to put that at risk so that you have $940 billion in fees that go to Wall Street and a whole bunch of young people get to invest money in who knows what, and there's no guarantee that money will be there for them in their lifetime."

Not to mention the real crisis is health care and we've got to get the focus back where it belongs.
