That bit about no further debate (on Friday)in the unanimous consent agreement looked like a no filibuster agreement. If so, Harry Reid needs to resign as minority leader. Talk is cheap. We need facts. BTW, little old postal workers lost all their Social Security as result of that bi-partisan commision that was just discussed.

8. No, this is your second thread on the need for filibuster.
Slight changes in wording don't really count.

9. Uh huh...
It's about the filibuster, or lack thereof. You already started a thread about that, if you've forgotten:

13. Oh, such a distinction.
Shall we start new thread for each senator who voted 'yea' now, too?

17. Of course. It's not enough to bash the Democratic Party.
You have to bludgeon it till it's a bloody pulp. Didn't you hear? That's what I learned from HeadRush.

5. It was that agreement Specter read. At the end was a part that with
no further debate they would vote. I read it as a no filibuster agreement but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

7. You read it right
They've unanimously consented to end debate at a specified time, ergo, no filibuster.

16. The Steady Hemorrhaging Of Liberals And Progressives From The Party ???
Two theories being floated: 1) Dem Senators don't wanna piss off the Hispanic vote, and 2) they wanna keep their powder dry for the upcoming Supreme Court Vacancy Fight.

And if I were Karl Rove... after the Democratic Senators have ducked the first two Senate confirmation fights... when THAT VACANCY came up for the SCOTUS...

I'd find a Hispanic Judge just slightly to the right of center, with an absolutely unobjectionable record, and nominate him\her for the seat. And after the Democratic Senators have been check-mated for the umpteenth time, I'd dance around the White House naked laughing my ass off at the stupidity and spinelessness of the Dems, and I'd be handing out that 'Ole Chuck Colson Chestnut...

"When ya got 'em by the balls,
their hearts and minds will follow."

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!

:nuke::wtf::nuke:

:argh:

I'm going drinking right fucking now!

10. That's what you heard. Debate ends on Friday
and thus, no filibuster. It's officially in the record and there is no need to call for an end to debate as it is the unanimous consent of the Senate that debate end on Friday.

15. That wasn't the question
the question was if they had just then given up on the filibuster officially in the Senate record. By unanimous consent, debate on this matter will end on Friday, thus there will officially be no filibuster.
