Just caught something on ABC News

They were talking about the proposal to up the amount paid
to the family of troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am
pretty sure that they said the number so far was 1,587. But
then, they put up a graphic for a couple seconds that showed
how that number broke down within the Armed Services.

The total they showed for just the Army and Marines was 1600+.
And then there was the Navy and Air Force. It happened so
quickly, I wasn't able to get the total on the graphic.

I am wondering where ABC came up with the numbers they used.
If anyone in a different time zone catches this, can you verify
that I saw what I think I did?

That number is probably right for both Iraq and Afghanstan.
