Thanks to PR Watch forums contributor "El Gringo" for calling our attention to a really atrocious example of dishonest propaganda.
The graphic at right is by Linda Eddy, an artist for the website, IowaPresidentialWatch.com.

Owned by Roger Hughes, chairman of the Republican Party in Hamilton County, Iowa, the website spent the recent U.S. presidential election calling Democratic candidate John Kerry a habitual liar and comparing him to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels - which is awfully ironic in light of its own promotion of a big lie.



The image you see here might lead you to believe that the child in the picture has been made "glad" and secure thanks to the U.S. troop presence in Iraq.

As "El Gringo" discovered, however, Lindy Eddy doctored the photograph. The original photo, taken by a journalist, depicted a young girl who had just received bullet wounds during a firefight in which her mother was killed and her father was wounded.

Eddy doctored the photo by erasing the little girl's own face (which carries the listless expression you would expect from an injured child) and replacing it with someone else's face to make her look positively radiant and adoring.

The soldier holding the girl is Navy medic Richard Barnett of Camarilo, California, who was checking her heart when the photo was taken. Barnett himself wasn't "glad" about the circumstances. "If anything good comes from this nonsense, I haven't seen it yet," he said as she and her father were taken away for a medivac helicopter.

Linda Eddy is scum.
Roger Hughes is scum.
The Navy medic is a hero, and they used him as pawn to further their stupid agenda.

I've seen stuff on the bottom of a peep show booth floor that isn't as repulsive as these swine.

touching up is one thing - it is something else to erase the real face of a wounded child and put on a face that is calm and untroubled - and then use it for fucking war propagnda.

Only a PIECE OF HUMAN TRASH would do something like that.

We have an enlisted rating in the Navy called "hospital corpsman", who are the medics not only for sailors but also for the Marines. ;)

The nazis once put up a poster in France which showed little children being comforted by a benevolent nazi soldier. Some citizen saw the poster, and wrote on it in big letters, "He replaces the father he has killed."

In the case of this picture, I read that actually it was the child's mother who was killed. The father recovered, after medical help, as did the child and her little brother.

The original picture did not show the soldier with the little smile. The original picture did not show the child gazing trustingly up at him; rather the child was gazing at nothing in particular--as people in shock are wont to do.

The photoshopping of the picture is a perfect illustration of how the repukelican sheep are complicit with the "next-generation nazism" of the Bush regime. As far as I know this Ms. Eddy is not an official Bush propagandist--she is instead voluntarily propagandizing on behalf of her master, Bush. The zombie-like complicity of the half-wit Bush followers is absolutely frightening.

BTW, I hope everyone clicks on the link and reads the whole thing on that site. It is well worth it.
