Has anyone noticed the southern right wing stereotype shining on CSPAN?

Every time I turn on CSPAN and listen to the calls that come in, it's always some southern right wing gun toting hick talking (in completely fucked up grammar) about some complete nonsense.

For example, the Gonzales hearings this morning:
(Remember, think complete southern hick accent) "There is people in our jails that are getting abused in our jails. Gettin' killed, getin' gang raped. I sit on jury twice, so i know what i'm talkin' about. Why don't they do something about those instead of them terrorist prisoners gettin' abused?"

At least it provides humor...

1. I would think C-span could screen out those same callers, they know who

they are after this length of time doing call ins. Surely if one is to believe that one can't call in but every 30 days then the whole country must be watching C-span Washington Journal just waiting to call in.

A lot of the southern callers seem very misinformed and poorly educated. I wonder if the schools are worse in the south than in other parts of the country.

7. PA Rural white trailer trash or Okie homa cowboy

The GAP between blacks and white is WORSE in some NORTHERN states. For instance, NY has a bigger gap than does NC for both educational attainment and income over $100,000 for blacks compared to whites.

Moreover, NY has THREE TIMES, in proportion to population, as many hate crimes. NY also has about 3x as many Bush voters as does NC.

I'd say the North has it's share of problems.

I also agree that it is quite shallow and uninformed to judge one on their accent. I'd hardly consider a Baaahhhhstan accent pleasant or easy on the ears.

5. I have noticed

The whole nine yards, southern accent, hillbilly sounding right wing Rush listening country bumpkin. They love to call all Democrats traitors and other names. The most recent one I remember was some lady who called in to say that people need to understand that she and her like minded friends don't care about Iraqis being killed, that they would love to nuke them if they could. I don't know why but Cspan seems to get a lot of them.

6. How do you know they are Southerners?

Have you heard the white trailer trash talk that comes out of Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, etc?

Talk to someone from rural PA and you may not think it's just Southerners. I have seen more rednecks in rural PA than I have in some Southern states.

And by the numbers, there are MORE Bush voters in CA than in many Southern states! There are hicks all over this country.

Simply because Southern states have fewer Democrat voters, does not mean we have MORE rednecks. Northern states are more densely populated. How many Bush voters were there in PA or CA?

This demonization of Southern states only serves Bush and the MYTH that he has a mandate.

Well, lookey here...there are more RED voters in PA than there are in NC! NEARLY TWICE AS MANY!
