Pa. Democratic chairman backs Dean's rival (Fowler) for DNC post
State Rep. T.J. Rooney, the Pennsylvania Democratic chairman, yesterday endorsed a chief rival to former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean in an 11th-hour effort to blunt the accelerating momentum of Dean's bid to lead the Democratic National Committee.

Rooney, D-Northampton, released a statement backing South Carolina political consultant Donnie Fowler the day after Dean cemented his lead in the race by prevailing in a vote of Rooney's fellow state party chairs from across the nation.

"A lot of people have suggested that this is a foregone conclusion and the train has left the station,'' Rooney said yesterday. "But I believe I have an obligation to speak out for what I believe is the majority sentiment. I believe this is a two-person race and I also believe it shouldn't be a coronation.''

5. No, we'd all suffer. Dean would make a horribly misguided bid
to run in '08, then go down in humiliating flames and take the party with him, and we'd be toast for twenty years.

19. Amusing, but he can't seem to stand up to the truth.
He comes into a thread, lies about Dean then, when someone shows the truth of the matter, he disappears. Sounds like a troll to me.

13. you could,
but it wouldn't make sense, because you could find at least ONE post from me that wasn't a direct or indirect attack on ONE particular person.

You, on the other hand, have a certain uniformity to your posting habits.

11. Now Deano is saying "he would support New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation
primary status." Gee, why would he do that? He wouldn't be planning an end-run around Iowa, would he? Nah, not Howie, he's a stand-up guy and would NEVER tell a lie!

20. I love how your attacks
are vague and unsubstantiated. usually when people express a negative opinion about a person, they give specific reasons, rather than screaming "he's a liar!"

15. he has said he will not run in '08 if he is elected DNC chairman
it is not surprising that you would overlook this fact.

3. How did this become a two person race between Dean
and this person. We better not end up with Fowler or I am going to scream. And it won't be a happy little Dean scream, either.

Oh please. Oh please. Oh please.

12. You know
Dean is what the party sorely needs. I think the kid has promise, and spunk but he still has a way to go. He is getting a certain amount of notoriety by going up against Dean, and I saw him up there conferring with Rosenberg, who I don't like and don't trust--so I am going to hold it against him.

But this is ridiculous, these small time politicians who have to come out and grandstand for their 15 minutes.

Where is this guy? I am in PA and I am getting pissed. Dean is the man for the job at this juncture in time, and it is time for everybody to sit down and shut up---for the good of the party.

;-)

14. Swimming against the tide only looks noble when the tide is going the
wrong way.

The Dem Party has been going the wrong way since 1994, and with Dean, we will steer it back to it's noble principles and give the entire Party a backbone transplant. Anyone Dem who is against that need's their head examined.

T.J. Rooney is obviously blind to the real mess the Dem Party has become with the likes of the Fowlers' and Clintonistas.
