Pledge support for DNC ONLY if Dean is chair
Hello DU:

Virtually everyone seems to be calling the DNC Chair race for Dean right now. But to my way of thinking, that eerily echoes the conventional wisdom just before Iowa, where it was "our side" - Kerry & Gephardt campaigns especially - that took him down.

Overconfidence is a recipe for failure, and I think that some are just waiting for Dean supporters to become complacent before launching a "February Surprise." A lot can happen in 10 days, and some within this party would do anything to stop Dr. Dean (and party reform in general).

As a consequence, I thought I'd make all of you aware of this: http://www.programforprogress.com. Basically, what we're doing is pledging our financial support to the DNC IF AND ONLY IF Howard Dean is Chair. If not, they can turn back to their corporate pals, because they won't be getting bucks from us.

If you like the idea, drop by, sign on, and LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW about the site and the idea.

Many thanks...

David/RabidNation

1. This is already happening.
Many people here have vowed to help make DFA the new DNC if Dean doesn't get the chair, myself among them.

4. No, DFA wouldn't be a party...
...but a vehicle to advance the candidacy of various persons running. The DNC at present has a certain role within the Democratic party. We're just saying we'll let another organization fullfill that role.

...that you drop by the site & add yer name to the list of pledges...figure there's strength in numbers here, especially when public.

I'll be sending out a press release on this tonight...would be good to have a few more ppl signed on.

5. I'm still contributing to the DNC until the chairmanship comes up.
If someone thwarts Dean, then I'll shift my contribution.

I shifted it to Dean in the primaries, and back for the general election, and I'll shift again if he gets screwed out of the chairmanship.
