"'As the Democrats consistently do with President Bush, they mis-estimate him,' Matalin said to laughter. 'She is very smart. She's a very hard worker, she delivers a good speech, she campaigns like mad, and I think if anybody from my side underestimates her prowess, her power, her potential for the presidency, they're making a mistake.'

It was the Mary and Jimmy show Monday night at the State Theatre.
The evening was the season kickoff of the Smart Talk Women's Lecture Series, and mega-political consultants Mary Matalin and James Carville were on hand to keep things lively, if not always politically focused.
There were more one-liners than a Friar's Club roast.

"He had no idea who Johnny Depp is," said Matalin, while Carville mugged in his seat.
"They say that politics makes strange bedfellows," Matalin said. "James is just a strange bedfellow."<snip>
