My message to the Democrats at the SOTU...Stand Up And Boo!
I would be absolutely THRILLED if our guys drowned out every Bush lie with a chorus of boos and jeers. The RepubliKKKans did it at one of Clinton's SOTU's; maybe our side will grow a pair for tonight's manifesto...

1. They're not children

That would, properly, be seen as incredibly immature.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the Republicans never did this to Clinton, either. Though if you have contrary information, please let me know.

9. and they look petty
Having seen video how parliament acts, I'm glad our congressmen behave in a civilized way. Even if they hate the other person's positions, at least they act like they have some respect for their responsibilities.

13. No, they are doing their jobs
as required under British law!

It looks bad to you because you're AMERICAN!

It looks like a damn good way to put a check on the fucking asswipe in charge, to me!

7. Yes, they did. Here you go!

The article was published in the 1996 Kansas State University Collegian and is from the AP wire.

http://www.kstatecollegian.com/issues/v100/sp/n078/ap-StateofUnion-38.html

"ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a State of the Union address to a skeptical Republican Congress, President Clinton traced the themes of his upcoming reelection campaign Tuesday night and confronted the GOP on the budget, demanding it ''never -- ever'' shut the government again.
Democrats rose with loud cheers, but Republicans sat in stony silence at Clinton's challenge. GOP lawmakers -- particularly the rebellious House freshmen -- had been coached by party elders to be on good behavior and not boo Clinton, as some did last year."

11. Hmmm, "some did," but then they wised up
Thanks for pointing that out. But it does illustrate the point that booing at the State of the Union is almost universally viewed as immature and counterproductive.

3. That would require that they take their lips off of Repug ass.
And we all know that's not gonna happen until the takeover is complete.

4. Stand up and turn their backs. Would be better than booing like a kid.
Booing only work in Parliament in Britain. They have a history @ it. WE don't. Turning the back would be EXCELLENT!

10. They have no obligation to respect George W Bush...
Are they supposed to stand up and cheer when he talks about destroying Social Security? No need to boo - just ignore him. Same message.
