3. He will be receiving a letter from this voter who voted for him.
Of course, I know for certain that Pete Coors would have voted for Gonzalez. Still, what a disappointment.

7. There is still time to fax and call
Fax number 202-228-5036

Office number 202-224-5852

His email and phone contact numbers don't count out of state calls and emails, but his fax machine does.

8. The repukes are turning this into an
ethnic issue. They are all up there blabbing about Gonzales' humble roots and what a great role model he is for the "hispanic community" and how "proud" hispanics supposedly are of him. I think it's all bullshit, but I think Salazar is buying into it.

I think the voters of Colorado bought themselves a DINO.

9. so he kissed enough of the right asses to become successful
how is that ethical? What happened to the idea that people should be judged for their character and deeds and not for the color of their skin?

10. Well, I got pretty well trashed on this board
back when there was a two man contest for the Democratic Senate nomination and I was advocation for Mike Miles. A genuine progressive, and outstandingly qualified for the job, as well as being highly intelligent and articulate and charismatic. I was trashed for even supporting him because he was supposedly unelectable and was seen as nothing but an inconvenient bump in the road for Salazar, even though he had been running for 2 years.

I'm just saying that Salazar wasn't the only choice that we had, but he was the choice that most Colorado Democrats made, including most of the ones who post on DU. I'm not all that inclined to listen to complaints about him now. I knew exactly what I was voting for in the general election. I'm not at all surprized by anything that's happened since.

11. oh yes,,,,, I commented once about the DLC trashing Mike Miles

and I got some rather snippy remarks about Salazar being able to win Colorado,,,,, Big Whoop!! He's supported Repugs with every vote!!

Mike Miles was the better candidate !!!

What a waste.

12. yeah I just found out about Miles today
sounds like we missed out on a great guy, although apparently he was pretty liberal so it is not certain he could have won Colorado.

13. Actually, I would say that Miles was one of those
people who defies simplistic labels. I met a number of more conservative Democrats who were very active in his campaign. He kind of had the "too liberal" label stuck on him. He was definitely a progressive Democrat, but very much a pragmatist. That was my view of him at least. I think he could have had quite alot of crossover appeal, with his military background and being from Colorado Springs, but what do I know, I'm just I mindless Clarkbot at heart, who will fall for anything with a West Point diploma.:)

I do know that he was not the type who would roll over for the Republicans, but rolling over for them almost seems like the definition of "moderate" these days. He opposed the Iraq invasion, but it was on the basis of his extensive military (counterterrorism), diplomatic, and intelligence experience. He could tell that the arguements and evidence for it were bogus, but of course, that wasn't the "moderate" position, so it supposedly couldn't have gotten elected in Colorado.

Colorado, by the way, has produced quite a number of independent minded, outspoken, progressive, Democratic politicians.

I think we could have done better than Ken Salazar, but he's what we've got. I did what I could for Mike Miles, so I personally have no regrets. I'm not going to complain about Salazar, because I knew what I was voting for when I voted for him. I don't feel all that tolerant towards people complaining about him now, who were pushing so hard for him then though.
