Falwell confirmed it today on Crossfire
Its okay for Republicans to have a litmus test for Supreme Court Nominees (You must oppose abortion), and

Its okay for Republicans to lie (Kindasleezy rice)

with his throng of little nazis cheering in the crowd, falwell asked for god to bless bush for killing thousands of Iraqis.

Me thinks (based on the rabidness of falwell and that California moron issa) that the right wing might be reaching a saturation point, a fear point where they have discovered drastic action is needed by them to go any further; that the Constitution of the United States is not going to allow them to succeed. There is a sad smell to desperation. I hope I'm right.

I didn't serve 24 years supporting and defending jerry falwell.

5. It depends on the meaning of "is"
Falwell rejoined a conversation saying he wanted a supreme court nominee(s) that "valued life" - direct quote. Fuck those who are dying on the battlefields of Iraq. Conservatives value life (in the womb and in nursing homes)

When Begala told the truth about rice, the REVEREND (please share with me limbaughs tone when chatting about Jesse Jackson) jerry falwell said he (Begala) supported a liar for president. Didn't deny the FACT - rice lied, but its okay because she is a republican.

The fascists are concerned about that damn constitution. MUST - OBLITERATE - NOW.

2. Now We Wait and Prepare
Now we have to sit back and see what they do, and how they plan to accomplish their crusade against those of us who still beleive in the Constitution of the United States.

Personally I'm ready to help any and all of them get "raptured", and like you I didn't serve 13 years to support and defend falwell or any of the others like him.

9. Now why would you assume that Falwell would be Raptured? . . .
He is an outspoken bigot that claims to be a Christian. I live in Virginia. I watch his Old Time Gospel Hour every Sunday on a local channel just to hear him preach his politics from behind his pulpit instead of the word of God.

For example. Just before the elections, Falwell was still up in arms about whether or not Dubya was going to get re(s)elected. Falwell calls NOW the National Organization of Witches. He also talked about voting "Christian." Not voting Democrat or Republican but to vote "Christian" and I quote, "If you don't understand what I mean by voting Christian then you have a bag of rocks in your head." Then he talked about the liberals, the baby killers, the homosexuals, etc. Now this is an exact quote, "I would not give a Liberal a teaspoon of water if I passed one on the street dying of thirst." (As his congregation started mumbling amongst themselves about his comment, he continued), "I mean it."

Now, Falwell has built a college through his church and I do not doubt he has not sacrificed for his belief at times. I think he feels in his heart he is doing what God wants him to do. I admire anyone that can stand by their faith like that. I am not judging Mr. Falwell; however, I do have an opinion about churches getting a Tax-Free Status and still include politics in their church. If all charitable organizations paid a small amount of tax on their donations, this country would possibly be out of debt. I am no judge of who will be raptured and who will not. However, I suppose my point is that those who claim they are such Christians, quote the Bible, and state without hesitation that all Jews are going to Hell, seem to me that they are trying to convince themselves as well as others that they are truly "Christian." A lot of their actions sure speak louder than their preaching and THEIR very judgmental words.

It's unbelievable what some of the churches in the South believe. I have been to some doozies. They will take one or two versus from the Bible and by God that is the way it is.

15. Where to begin when "evaluating" Falwell?
About 15 or so years ago he jumped on the "Save the Babies" (anti-abortion) campaign and he's been off and running since. He's now jumped on the political bandwagon, 'cause that's where the RW money is, I'd guess. The statement about not giving a liberal a teaspoon of water if he passed one dying of thirst is almost unbelievable. Remember the story of the Good Samaritan? Does Falwell read the Bible? Does he pay any attention to Jesus' words? It would seem he does not, giving his words and actions. Falwell has undermined Christ's gospel and cheapened Christianity and I guess now it's up to God to deal with him. From now on, I am only relying on God's favor for me individually, since I firmly believe He's given up on America, thanks to Bush, Falwell, Robertson, Dobson and the entire rest of that crowd. Shame on them all.

Regarding the Rapture: I no longer believe it's going to happen, a real departure for me, since I've clung to that "blessed hope" my entire life. Not that I no longer have hope--just not for the "Big R".

What is going on with these people? I've never seen people so full of hate and vitrol. Even in victory all they can do is spew vile hate and trash.

19. Yeah. He has said a lot of things like that when he is supposed . . .
to be preaching (I only assume that because he is behind a pulpit).

I noted it when it happened in my blog

http://newamerica2004.blogspot.com/

It's archived in Oct-Nov 2004. I called it the Falwell Chronicles. I had promised in my blog to keep it up to date as far as Falwell's stupid remarks but have fallen behind.

After the tsunami (not the Sunday right after the tsunami, it was totally ignored. The worst human disaster in our time, and the Christian Churches do not acknowledge it until after it had been two weeks and STILL do not acknowledge it.), of which they have only acknowledge the one time, Falwell seemed to mellow. Also, after the election, and Bush won, then Falwell started with Bush owed them all now and they expected him to do what they needed most, and that was to get conservative judges in the Supreme Court so R v W would be overturned.

He tells his congregation every week that if it were not for them, Bush would not have been reelected. All I know is 12% of the vote in 96 was the religious right. Also, 12% of the vote in 2000 was the religious right, and 12% of the vote in 2004 was the religious right. So it seems they vote the same and in the same numbers for the last almost 15 years.

When he was on Crossfire and Begala asked him wasn't he mad about Bush ignoring them and not working harder because after all, did they not claim that they got Bush reelected. Then Falwell went into Bush is a great man and so is his father, they have done nothing wrong to use, yada, yada, yada.

However, if you listen to Falwell behind his political pulpit, he states every week that the right needs to get on the ball and take care of the needs of the Christians. He wouldn't admit it on Crossfire though.

(my blog regarding Falwell among other things).

Peace!

18. You Misunderstood
You did not understand what I was saying. I never said that Falwell would get Raptured as believed by fundies, I just said that perhaps he should be "raptured".

4. Yah, you did.
You put your life on the line to protect his right to be a raging asshole in peace and security.

And you protected my right to it, and my mom's, and my sister's, and my dad's, and all my uncles (who were in great need of it), and my cousins...

So I thank you.

10. Thanks Teammate, I actually
read my oath of enlistment (to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic) every day. I have it prominently posted in my home office. But you are right. If I would be so abrupt to tell the good reverend that he no longer had the right to spew his hate and lies, then I would be violating that oath. Thanks for the rudder correction. And even though I have been retired almost three years, my oath is still in effect in case someone would choose to become an enemy of that most sacred and liberal document.

11. The most revolting thing about this post...
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 06:00 PM by TwoSparkles
...is not what Falwell said, it's that CNN validates that bloated, misguided mutant with air time.

I mean...WTF?????????

Since the election, CNN has Falwell on constantly. Can CNN be any more shameless and unprofessional?

Geez, if someone elected a maniac who wanted to molest collies--CNN would feature bestiality proponents on their network several times daily. It's just revolting!!!!

And another thing--Bush doesn't care about Falwell and ilk. He used them to get elected. Suckers.

Did anyone see Larry King Live last night? Several evangelical preachers discussed politics and the role of religion in politics. Two of these "Christians" were adamant that they expected great things from Bush--regarding marriage and abortion. They seemed ticked.

Several other religious leaders have expressed anger and concern because Bush seems to have dropped the "marriage" issue.

HAHA, I say to you freakazoid suckers!!!! Bush is about as religious as a pine cone!!! He used you to get elected!! Look at the man's murdering, power-mongering agenda, you nimrods! You knew Bush was a murderer and a liar during the campaign--just where did you expect your Christian agenda to figure the evil takeover of the world that he has planned for his second term? Idiots!! Are all of you really that dense?

/rant off

Sorry...I just can't take this crazy world sometimes.

13. There's a Buddhist tale
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 06:24 PM by pnutchuck
About a king who had 16 frightening dreams. He asked his priests to interpret them and they said that it could mean one of three things, loss of the king's life, his kingdom, or his fortunes.

The king was so frightened he asked the council of his priests and they suggested a grand sacrifice, 4 animals from every species on land and sea.

A kind, earnest, and intelligent young priest thought that this didn't make any sense and could not see how the slaughtering of so much innocent life could save the king from his dreams. When he met a revered ascetic in the forest he asked for his help in interpreting the dreams. The ascetic agreed and interpreted all 16 of the kings dreams and saved the lives of the animals.

Anyway, it turns out that the king's priests just wanted the money they would make from the sacrifices and the his fears had nothing to do with his kingdom.

The moral: Beware the panicked man, he can do more harm than what frightened him in the first place.

http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/buddhism/bt_conts.htm

just go to dreams, it's in 4 parts if you want to see the whole thing. It's quite ominous the interpretations of how future kingdoms and nations will come to be.

on edit: missing word
