Why Dean? People know he believes in what he says.
THAT is what wins.

1. Unfortunately, his record of winning nationally disproves that.

2. People went with the safe choice when they thought Bush was toast.
But Dean would have got out the base.

11. In the last 25 years that number (winning nationally) for Dems=
One. Two, if you count Gore. For the Pugs that number = 3(5).

What was your point again?

13. Aw, don't be so quick to expose your ignrance
of the facts.

Dean didn't so much "lose" Iowa as get torpedoed by his own party and some of its more illustrious and energetic members engaging in dirty tricks -- REALLY dirty tricks -- and backroom deals. And a front-loaded primary season didn't help, but that's the way THAT was planned as well.

We don't really know how Dean would have done on his own. He didn't get the chance. Iowa was a Perfect Storm alright, just not how the Dean team intended it (and I did worry about the negativity inherent in the symbolism of that particular phrase as a slogan -- the other Perfect Storm had been literally deadly).

14. Bottom line, that's it, isn't it?
Let's hope Dean has better strategy for candidates in 2006 and 2008 than he had for himself in 2004.

As DNC Chair, he needs to deliver. Talk is cheap.

3. Agreed
For those who frequent bartcop.com (and if you don't, I recommend you do), you'd never see ol' Bart dress Dean in a pink tutu.

People can make fun of The Scream all they want, say he's crazy all they want, etc. But the fact of the matter is the Dem party needs to be shaken up, and he's someone who can and will do it. Whatever you think of him, Dean is not politics as usual. And we all can see where politics as usual has gotten us.

Dean's got 'em where it counts, like Boxer and my man Lautenberg. You think he would've voted to confirm Rice? You think he would vote to confirm Gonzalez? Hell no. And that's the kind of guy I want in there mixing it up.

8. And you know why he believes in what he says?
Because he's incredibly smart. There are very few things out there as difficult to become and do well as an MD. He's done that, governed a state successfully and fiscally responsibly, and run for President.

Dean has more experience doing difficult things than anyone in the Democratic Party, with the possible exception of Bill Clinton and Wesley Clark.

He sees the big picture and looks at the different angles, and eventually comes to a conclusion of what is morally right and what is politically possible, and then works to get there.

I would walk over hot coals for him accordingly.

9. As far as the 'crazy' thing goes
I WANT a crazy SOB in charge

These milquetoast 'go along to get along' corporate sell outs don't do shit.

I want a Grant, not a McClelland
