Poll question: Poll: Is CNN Moving in the right direction?
According to a CNN Poll:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/02/02/sotu.poll/index.html
Bush showed almost as much improvement on Iraq, with 78 percent of respondents saying U.S. policy there is heading in the right direction, a 12 percentage point increase over pre-speech polling. Overall, 77 percent of respondents said Bush is taking the country in the right direction after the speech compared to 67 percent beforehand.

The strong positives for the president's policies may in part be a reflection of the poll's sample. Of the 485 people surveyed, 52 percent identified themselves as Republicans, 25 percent as Democrats and 22 percent as independents. The poll was done by telephone interviews and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

-----

Now, note that the poll doesn't say how many DEMOCRATS approved of Bush's programs.

1. CNN is a joke.
Nothing they do can make me watch.

A step in the right direction: Getting sold back to Ted Turner.

10. The "Yawning Boy" story cemented its whore status...
Remember when David Letterman ran the video of the yawning boy behind one of Bush's campaign speeches? Letterman ran it for humor, yet:

1. CNN reported that the Letterman Show altered the video;
2. Letterman Show denied it;
3. CNN then reported it got a call from the White House saying DL altered the video;
4. WH denied it;
5. CNN finally admitted to lying about the whole thing.

CNN is a joke; a "bad joke" but a joke, nonetheless.

6. Boxer made Solidad look like the idiot she is
(I'm paraphrasing - don't have exact quotes)

Solidad - But in 1999, President Clinton said SS would fall apart
Boxer - I doubt very much President Clinton said that
Solidad - Yes, right here, he said by 2013 the fund would need money
Boxer - Yes, and we fixed it. As with all families, as time goes on, you need to adjust to actual income and expenses

***
Solidad - Look at this survey
<All items - support for SS change, Iraq situation, etc, shows 70% + in support of Bush>
Boxer - Is that a survey of people who WATCHED the speech
Solidad - Yes
Boxer - Well

*****
On SS -
Boxer - I was a stock broker. The stock market does not insure security. Many people around me lost their life's savings in Enron

****
Solidad - The pResident made a comment that people should have the same option you - meaning Congress - have regarding private accounts
Boxer - Yes, we have private accounts. But, that is on top of our defined benefit pension plan. I have no problems with allowing people to have private accounts. The problem is when those accounts replace social security

****
Boxer - comments about $2 trillion required to fund SS transision. Where will the money come from?
Solidad - NO comment

****
Boxer is great!!

Having a lot more fun actually reading about the world instead of seeing it through the rose-colored glasses of our MSM.

16. I wish one could buy channels a la carte over satellite or cable
I'd get the networks (for reception reasons), C-SPAN channels, Court TV, Discovery channels, A&E, Comedy Central (for The Daily Show) and the History channels. Oh, and maybe NASA TV.

That's it.
