Did Dems Stand for Bush SOTU?
Democracy Now! reported this morning that except when he talked about Social Security, the Democrats were indistinguishable from the radical Republicans in the standing and applauding Bush.

I didn't/couldn't watch ...

For someone who did, is this true?

3. There was very little standing on that side of the floor
In fact, other than in a few spots, there was minimal clapping from that side of the floor. Early on, there were even some boos!

4. Actually, I thought they
did far better than the previous years in sitting on their hands much of the time.

I think it is a very difficult position for them to be in, primarily due to the presence of the cameras, combined with the Orwellian verbiage of the speech deliberately calculated to maximize the potential of their being caught on camera "appearing" to be what later can be characterized by their media shills as anti-American, unpatriotic, sore losers yada yada...

So, on the whole I was very pleased with their responses and non responses, including the booing re: Social Security. I perceived a definite and appropriate change in demeanor from the previous chimperor SOTUs.
