I tell a repuke about PNAC and this is all she has to say?
I wanted to try it out and see if it even bothers repukes... well aparently not.

*talking about SH*

They went to the United Nations and to get approval it was agreed to
retreat him back into his country but we had to agree not to invade (or
go into his). That's probably the only way we could get a consensus
internationally. So, I think that's part of the issue this time. It
may be, we are saying we did it your consensus way and look what's
happened. We've had 911, Saddam was able to continue paying people to
blow themselves up, and nothing is better by it. He was letting the Al
Queda fighters who were able to get out of Afghanistan come and get
medical treatment in Iraq and stay. We could never get a consensus with
that group because there are too many dictatorships and they will not
agree on their own to let us do something. It could cause democracy and
they would be out of power. I think that's the referral to Cheney
having plans. He probably did have plans the first go round and didn't
get to use them. But, actually we probably should have done this back
then instead of trying to be so diplomatic that we agreed not to do what
we should have. At that time, Saddam was invading other countries.
Good reason to pull him out. That's why the food for oil program is a
big deal, they were beginning to start lifting sanctions. Then he would
have been back to his old tricks again. And there were people who were
supposed to be watching him would have been selling stuff to him, they
didn't care what he did as long as he was giving them money. It's
really better to prevent it from happening with his track record. I
wouldn't say that if there wasn't a proven pattern.

When she was talking about Cheney having plans... she is talking about PNAC. *geesh* I knew that they wouldn't care. Here I am upset about the whole thing and I knew the "Christian" repubs would have no problem with PNAC because at least America is number 1! She also said that she is so happy with the iraqi's voting.. that they have been
brainwashed all their lives.

2. Tell her about this quote from John Kelly to Saddam Hussein:
Kelly was Assistant Secretary of State for Middle Eastern Affairs in July, 1990:

"we have no opinion on ...conflicts like your border dispute with Kuwait...I have direct instruction from the President... Secretary of State James Baker has directed our official spokesman to emphasize this instruction." "Mr. President , not only do I want to tell you that President Bush wants better and closer relations with Iraq, but also that he wants Iraq to contribute to peace and prosperity in the Near East. President Bush is an intelligent man. He is not going to declare economic war against Iraq."

There was a plan, and the US gov't MADE DAMN SURE that Hussein fell into the trap...

3. Saddam Hussein wasn't paying people to blow themselves up
Think about how profoundly illogical that is. What use is money to someone who is about to die?

He sent money to the families whose head of the household had perished committing a suicide bombing. I agree that his motives may have been highly questionable, and I do not particularly support implied positive reinforcement of killing, either for the Israelis or Palestinians. Still, surely no children deserve to suffer in poverty after their parent has died. That situation only perpetuates the cycle of violence and retaliation that brought us to this point.

4. Wasn't that generally a common practice in the Middle East?
They all supported the Palestinians. I remember seeing coverage of a telethon in Saudi Arabia for funds to give to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers.

5. There are so many lies in this that is borders on being hysterical
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 01:47 PM by Elwood P Dowd
Some have been noted above. Others.......

PNAC stated they wanted to occupy Iraq even if Saddam was no longer in power. They wanted Iraq for the oil and permanent military bases.

Iraq didn't have any program to give medical treatments to major al Qaeda terrorists and then let them stay in the country.

Iraq wasn't invading other "countries". It invaded one, Kuwait, over an oil dispute. They DID have a war with Iran - a war we supported!

6. I think people seem to forget
that in the Kuwait war we helped him. Doy. And at least when Saddam was in reign their boarders were closed and people couldn't sneak in. They were probably more guarded then ours!! I wish people would do their own research and not blindly follow der Bush and company.

7. Bush's Saudi pals held a televised TELETHON for suicide bombers that
raised millions of dollars and Bush thanked them by COVERING UP their role in 9-11.

You certainly seem to be at a loss for replies quite often.

9. I wasn't looking for relplies.. look at my thread title.. I was shocked
just plain shocked that this is all someone had to say about PNAC. It's like they don't even care anything about the war (how it started, if it's legal, if they fooled us into it..etc) they just plain don't care? I just don't get it.

8. There's nothing you could ever do to convince that person.
I know several of them... Some folks really trust others to think for them. Reflective thinking is something one is born with, I think. Other folks really don't like to think to much about things...unfortunately. I understand your disappointment.
