It's political, so I figured I could put it here in GD: P.
Anyway, so I'm at a bar Tuesday night watching the Illinois game. Illinois was kicking ass, so I really wasn't paying much attention- mostly just talking to my buddy next to me. Anyway, this older, bleached-blonde lady comes up to the bar and sits next to me. She's basically hitting on me, even though I'm only 25 years old. Just sitting there, kind of trying to get me to notice her. So, after awhile she sees Orrin Hatch talking on C-SPAN on one of the other TVs. She goes into this spiel about how if you want to keep your money, you vote Republican! blah blah blah. I'm still basically ignoring her. And then she says, "And if you're a Democrat, IT AIN'T NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!" Both me and my buddy are Democrats, of course, and I'm just doing my best to ignore her.
So, anyway, eventually the TV with Hatch gets turned to the game, too, and she starts talking about the ethnicity of the guys on our team. One guy in particular (I don't remember his name, don't even really follow the team), this tall guy, well, she starts wondering out loud if he's a "Milano." I'm starting to roll my eyes at this point. This lady's ridiculous. Typical fucking ignorant-ass piece of shit Republican. Well, then, get this: trying to get my attention, maybe even trying to provoke me, this lady goes and says, "Everybody's got a nigger in their woodshed."
That's it, I thought. I just turned my back on her. So eventually she gets up and walks away.
BUT- THEN- get this. She comes back, trying to get my attention again. So I confront her with what she said, told her that it's not very good social skills to be throwing around words like "nigger" when you're just meeting someone. Pretty damned nasty word. She starts making all kinds of excuses, saying she "didn't mean it in a hateful way," and then the old "some of my best friends are black"- seriously, just all kinds of ridiculous shit. So I picked out a black guy across the bar and dared her to go tell that guy what she said to me. Of course, she declined. Anyway, she was apparently really bothered that I actually confronted her with it. She started calling me judgmental, like I'm victimizing her or something. Funny thing was I was actually being much nicer to her than I should have been- makes it a lot worse, that way, when you start getting all friendly, and then you slap 'em again. She wouldn't even let it go, though. I'd start talking about something else, then she'd go back to what she said to "defend herself."
HERE'S THE best part, though: Eventually she tells me that her husband is on the Board of Supervisors for a nearby county! LOL!!!! She even tells me his name, and hers!!
I had dreams of LTTE's.....
What do you all think? Should I nail 'em? I could write the letter, but leave the names out, even.
